Brief introduction of Jinling Library
Jinling Library is the former Nanjing Library. The new building is located in Binjiang Park,No. Leshan Road 158, Hexi New Town, jianye district, Nanjing, adjacent to Nanjing Olympic Sports Center. It is a sub-provincial city library, a national first-class library and a national key protection unit for ancient books. Jinling Library was founded in 1927 (16th year of the Republic of China) on June 9th. Nanjing Special City established the city's (No.1) public library on the former site of Pingjiang Building. The new museum was built in 2005, covering an area of 3864 1 m2, with a total construction area of 25 1.25 m2. The design scheme of "Cutting Shi Chengyu" by the Architectural Design Institute of Southeast University was adopted and delivered in July 2007. The new library has 1400 reading seats, 2 million books, and supporting facilities such as lecture hall, multi-function hall, exhibition hall, audio-visual room, training, restaurant, tea room and parking lot. It is a large-scale public library that integrates learning, reading, information exchange and cultural leisure, and provides information, networking and intelligent services. The design of the new Jinling Library reflects the regional context and environmental characteristics of the ancient capital Nanjing, and the large open-shelf reading space inside creates a humanized activity space. It is a library with distinctive style of the times and humanistic meaning, and an important facility for Nanjing's knowledge and information hub and spiritual civilization construction.
