Why should the Yangtze River be "closed to fishing for ten years"
The Yangtze River is one of the rivers with the richest aquatic biodiversity in the world. The vast rivers feed 424 species of fish, including 183 species of endemic fish. It is one of the seven rivers with rich biodiversity in the world. However, under the rapid and extensive economic development mode in the past few decades, the Yangtze River has paid a heavy environmental price.

Under the increasingly severe situation, more and more people have exhausted their resources to fish, and began to use illegal means such as "electric poison bombing" and "no nets" to fish, which eventually formed a vicious circle of "less and less fishing resources, worse ecology and poorer fishermen", and the biological integrity index of the Yangtze River reached the worst "no fish" level. Therefore, it is extremely urgent to realize the ban on fishing and let the Yangtze River recuperate.
