Decades later, China music, Yao dance and New Year's picture music played by western instruments are still played by Chinese and Western orchestras, which never stops. The Hong Kong City Chamber Orchestra will hold several concerts in Italy, and also selected these two pieces to introduce China's famous works to European audiences. The orchestra also invited Mao Yuan, the composer of these two songs, to make a new edition.
Hong Kong is no stranger to Mao Yuan. He has been here a dozen times. It turns out that his old friends Zhuo Liming and Deng Wansheng are musicians. Earlier, he was invited to Hong Kong to conduct Yao dance, and Mao Yuan's son settled in Hong Kong. He first came to Hong Kong in 198 1 year, and he likes Hong Kong very much.
The troupe will play his Yao dance music and invite him to come.
Often invited to re-arrange.
There are fewer performers in the City Chamber Orchestra than the Symphony Orchestra, which needs to be rearranged. The Spring Festival Music was originally a violin solo, and other instruments should be added to meet the needs of the orchestra. The troupe will perform Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon by Tan Dun in the same venue. Mao Yuan thinks his two songs are relatively simple. Compared with the complexity of Tan Dun, the interpretation of Yao dance and Spring Festival music needs to be more detailed. After all, if there is something wrong with the performance, the audience can easily hear it.
His works are highly valued, and all orchestras love to choose and play for foreign audiences. Mao Yuan said modestly: "This is related to the status of the country. Foreign audiences didn't pay attention to China music before, but now they are interested. None of the European cities visited by the orchestra are big cities, which is a good opportunity for them to learn about China music. Both of my works are played with western musical instruments. Even if Western orchestras are interested in playing, it is not difficult to master and accept, which really helps to promote China culture. "
Recalling the years when I wrote Yao dance music and Spring Festival music, Mao Yuan described it clearly, just like what happened not long ago. In the early 1950s, there were just many orchestras in China, but only music imported from the west was in great demand for original works created for orchestras. For a long time, the composer of Yao dance music has been Mao Yuanhe, but it turns out that they are not co-creators, but based on mutual respect among musicians.
The Mission of Nationalization of Orchestral Music
Mao Yuan said: "At that time, I went to see a minority dance performed by a national art troupe. There was a song in the dance, and I liked it very much. So when I went back, I found the music score, which was the notation of the art troupe and changed to an orchestral work. Later, I learned that it was Liu Tieshan who composed the music, so although there was no copyright awareness at that time, I added his name to show my respect for the composer. " As for the Spring Festival Music, it was written in 1952 or 1953. Mao Yuan's father played the violin, and so did he when he was a child. Later, when he worked in the Central Opera House, he used the first paragraph of Hebei folk song "Selling Jiaozi" as the introduction and played the whole violin solo.
The composers of that era had a great sense of mission in their hearts, and they pursued different creative styles such as nationalization and popularization. Therefore, today's avant-garde music created by musicians, Mao Yuan admits that he "can't do it, can't get it", "the most popular, ordinary, simple, innovative, the most difficult but useful, just like fashion, clothing design is very strange, but fashion companies will still ask designers to design it. Mao Yuan loves to describe composition with fashion design, which is related to his wife Li Keyu being a famous fashion designer. Mao Yuan said modestly that his wife is more famous than him. Li Keyu once designed costumes for the Central Ballet and served as a postgraduate professor at Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology.
Mao Yuan said calmly that he has also taught some young people to create music in recent years, but they all teach basic skills. I know that many young people pursue avant-garde innovation, but it is not easy for listeners to accept music, and they are not excited or disgusted. Instead, they feel that some music is not appreciated and composers will adjust it. He said earnestly: "Music is not like painting, but painting and exhibition. Musicians need people to sing and show after composing music.
Old age peace
Mao Yuan appreciates British and American musicals, and thinks that there are both music and dialogue, which is very suitable for development in China. But he argued that he was old and the career of musical needed young people to complete. With a smile in his eyes and a warm attitude, Mao Yuan gives the impression that he is an approachable old man. It turns out that he is approachable when sharing the way of keeping in good health, which is one of his experiences. Besides, he has always been like this, not eating too much and eating too little fried food. Another thing worth learning is that he does not fight for fame and fortune and keeps a good mood. After retirement, Mao Yuan's life is dull but still full. Apart from arranging music for old works to meet the needs of orchestras, amateur choirs are also very popular in Chinese mainland in recent years. Mao Yuan often writes chorus versions for classic works such as Farewell and Purple Bamboo Tune, and he also composes music in the computer with the times.
children
None of Mao Yuan's children is engaged in music creation. He said his son was a legal person. Because he loves music, he married a violinist's wife. She is He, the head of the City Chamber Orchestra, and also participated in the orchestra's tour.
