Eight Notes on Respect for Life is a health book written by Ming and Ming. It is said that Gao Lian suffered from eye diseases and other diseases when he was young, and he finally recovered because he looked for strange secret medicines from many aspects. So he read many books, recorded them and merged them into this book. The author is rich in literature, including Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism, classics, history, medical writings and so on.
The contents include medical care, qigong instruction, diet and daily life, mountains and rivers, fish and insects, etc. Qin, chess, calligraphy and painting, pen and ink, and appreciation of cultural relics are extensive. This paper discusses the knowledge and methods of physical and mental conditioning, temperament cultivation, life adjustment, health care, disease prevention, qigong practice, art appreciation and so on.
Eight Chapters of Respect for Life was written in the 19th year of Wanli (159 1). There are nineteen volumes in the book and one volume in the catalogue. The content is divided into eight notes, such as Miao Xiu's Sword in Qing Dynasty, Shi Si's Carving Snake Sword, Que Sick and Yan Nian Sword, A Sword for Living, Eating and Drinking Sword, Ling Jianyao, Yan Xian Sword and Qi Feng Sword.
From eight aspects (namely, eight records), the book tells the ways to prevent diseases and achieve longevity through self-cultivation. Volume I and Volume II, saying "Qing Miao Xiu talks about swords", are both fitness maxims, and their aims are mostly from the second hour. Three to six volumes, four o'clock, are tips for timely cultivation. Volumes 7 and 8, notes about happiness in life, are all treasures that can be used to support themselves. Volumes 9 and 10, Yue Yan's notes on treating diseases, all convincingly guide various technologies. 1 1 to 13 refer to diet notes, all of which are food names with bait attached.
