Tao Yuanming, the poet of this poem, describes himself with an arc, which shows his noble and loyal personality. In the first four sentences, Song Qing and Ling Cold wrote their lonely and lofty characters in a restrained way. The first and second sentences describe the living environment of this pine tree: when it grows in the East Garden, it is usually covered with grass, but only when winter comes and first frost withers people, the tall branches of the pine tree are particularly tall and straight. He made a sharp contrast between the two images of "the grass has no posture" and "the branches stand tall and stand out", pointing out that the tall and straight pine trees will also fall into the situation of being covered by grass before the time, which also shows the difficulties and frustrations when people with lofty ideals are not born. "Even foresters don't realize that only one tree is strange" further shows the strange beauty of solitary pine: if pine trees are connected into a forest, they may not be noticed, and an independent tree will show its unique image. Associated with Tao Yuanming's era, the political disorder in the Eastern Jin Dynasty was dark, and the political affairs in the Eastern Jin Dynasty were extremely turbid. Ordinary bureaucrats and scholars are even more shameless. However, those who pretend to be lofty are "all important positions, and here, there is the right to recruit goods." Tao Yuanming is better than the figures in Jin and Song Dynasties "("Zhu Xi's Quotations "). The solitary pine praised by the poet is a portrayal of his noble personality.
"Lift a pot and hang a cold ke. When you look far away, it will be restored." The poet hung the hip flask on the lonely cold branch and looked back at it from time to time, revealing his infatuation and nostalgia for it. These two sentences introduce the poet himself into the object of praise and integrate the subject of expression with the subject of creation. The last two sentences are the poet's words of "expressing his will", which means that life is like a dream, so why bind yourself in the dust net? The implication is that a man should be as noble and upright as a solitary pine, and stand out independently, instead of drifting with the flow.
