What are the signs before cows give birth to calves? How do cows give birth to midwives?
A cow is going to have a baby. How will you react before giving birth?

Let's learn about the symptoms before cows give birth to calves and how cows are produced.

First, the symptoms of dairy cows before calving

There are obvious depressions on both sides of the tail root of parturient cows, especially multiparous cows. Breast swelling, colostrum can be squeezed out within 1~2 days before delivery.

The labia is swollen and soft, the folds begin to flatten out, the mucus plug sealing the cervix begins to melt, and the transparent cord flows out of the vulva 1~2 days before delivery and hangs outside the vulva.

Cows lose appetite, lie down from time to time, appear uneasy, defecate frequently, and look back at their abdomen from time to time.

At this time, the delivery is coming, so it is necessary to strengthen nursing and prepare for the delivery.

Before cows give birth to calves, they often keep walking and are in a panic. The milk bag is bigger than usual, and it is born as soon as you lie down. Pay attention to lying down, not lying down.

Second, the delivery mode of dairy cows during production

Cows in labor should be dragged to the delivery room or bed that has been cleaned in advance and has soft padding.

Wash vulva and its surroundings with 0. 1% potassium permanganate warm water, and then dry it.

When the fetal membrane is exposed to the vulva, the cow should lie on the left side to avoid dystocia caused by rumen extrusion of the fetus.

When the fetal front hoof ruptures the fetal membrane, it is best to take out the amniotic fluid from the basin and let the postpartum cows drink it to promote the discharge of the fetal membrane.

When a cow gives birth, both forelimbs will give birth first, and the head is between them. In case of dystocia, it is necessary to correct the fetal position in time, and help pull the fetus out when the cow is in charge. Never pull hard.

The hind leg comes out first when the cow is in charge, and the fetus should be pulled out as soon as possible to prevent the fetus from choking.

Third, the main points of postpartum nursing of dairy cows

Postpartum cows should drink wheat bran brine soup (0.5~ 1 kg wheat bran and 80 grams of salt) or brown sugar warm water soup, which can warm the abdomen, satisfy hunger, quench thirst, increase abdominal pressure and facilitate the discharge of fetal membranes.

Then, remove the dirty grass, put on clean mat grass and feed high-quality hay.

After the placenta is discharged, check whether the placenta is complete and take it away immediately.

Then use 1.5% Lysol solution to clean vulva and around buttocks to prevent bacterial infection.

Generally, the time of placenta expulsion is 5~8 hours, and the longest time is no more than 12 hours.

If the placenta is still not discharged after more than 12 hours, surgical stripping should be carried out in time.
