Kidney in Chinese medicine, not "kidney"?
Traditional Chinese medicine believes that "kidney" is the innate foundation, which is not only the place for storing essence, but also the main bone marrow. If a person is full of kidney-qi, he will be strong, healthy and full of vitality. Deficiency of kidney-qi and weakness will lead to premature senility.

Text/Sheng Zhu Ling

Mr. Lin, who is in his forties, often feels very tired recently. One afternoon, he suddenly felt dizzy and tinnitus, so he quickly asked for leave to see a Chinese medicine clinic near his home. Chinese medicine took his pulse and diagnosed his condition in detail. First, he was given a needle at the auditory point below the ear bead, and then he was given a needle at Shenshu point on the waist and Taixi point on the inside of the ankle, and he earnestly reminded Director Lin that he had obvious tinnitus due to kidney deficiency, so he had to recuperate and consolidate his kidney quickly in order to be healthy.

"I can't hear you clearly. Why is there something wrong with my kidney? " Zhang Erjin, director of Lin, was puzzled and asked the doctor for answers. In fact, many people have the same doubts as Lin. They saw that Chinese medicine was accused of "kidney deficiency" or "kidney deficiency" and turned to western medicine for treatment, but there was no "kidney disease". Is the "kidney" in Chinese medicine the same as that in western medicine? How to regulate kidney qi?

There are great differences in the understanding of "kidney" between Chinese and western medicine

Chinese medicine doctor Zhuo Zibin said that the five internal organs of heart, liver, spleen, lung and kidney mentioned in Chinese medicine are the functional units of the system. Although it is the same as the organ name in western medicine anatomy, its meaning is not the same, which often leads to misunderstanding and incomprehension of patients when they seek medical treatment.

The "kidney" referred to by western medicine specifically grows between the thoracic vertebra 12 and the second lumbar vertebra, just like a pair of super broad beans. Each adult kidney is about 1 1 cm long and weighs about150g. In modern medicine, the kidney belongs to the urinary system, which is responsible for filtering excess water in the human body to form urine, maintaining the balance between water and electrolyte in the body, and filtering out metabolic wastes and harmful substances in the body by excreting urine. At the same time, in the process of urine excretion, the kidney will also maintain the acid-base balance of the human body by controlling the proportion of acid-base substances discharged.

In addition, modern medicine has clearly deconstructed the endocrine function of the kidney, including that the kidney can synthesize and secrete certain substances, such as erythropoietin, which can make blood from bone marrow and produce red blood cells; Kidney can activate vitamin D3, promote the increase of calcium absorbed by intestine, and help to strengthen bones; The kidneys secrete renin to regulate blood pressure. Therefore, when the kidney is sick, it may also cause anemia, osteoporosis, and even fractures and affect blood pressure changes.

There are more than 60,000 renal dialysis patients in Taiwan Province province.

If the kidney referred to by western medicine is unhealthy, the common symptoms are edema, hypertension, proteinuria, lumbago, hematuria, oliguria or polyuria, frequent urination, urgency and dysuria, or nervous system symptoms (such as headache, vomiting, unconsciousness, convulsion, etc. ), blood and digestive system (such as anemia, protein metabolite retention caused by chronic renal failure, nausea and vomiting, etc. As for common kidney diseases, there are acute nephritis, chronic nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, pyelonephritis, chronic renal insufficiency and chronic renal failure.

According to the statistics of the health insurance department, there are more than 60,000 patients with chronic renal failure complicated with uremia in Taiwan Province Province who need long-term renal dialysis, and the annual health insurance medical expenses are more than 30 billion. Obviously, kidney disease is a great threat to people's health and should not be underestimated.

Compared with the kidney of western medicine, it is clearly discernible to the naked eye. The kidney in TCM is a collection of systemic functions. Zhuo Zibin said that the kidney in traditional Chinese medicine includes the reproductive and urinary systems, endocrine system, immune system, pituitary gland and adrenal axis, and kidney qi refers to the functional state of these systems.

Sufficient kidney qi and strong bones.

The classic of traditional Chinese medicine "Neijing" mentioned: "The northern cold produces water, the water is salty, the water is salty, and the kidney produces bone marrow. The kidney governs the ear, but the heart may hurt the kidney ... "; "storing essence, controlling reproduction, growth and development, second yin inducing resuscitation, generating marrow, filling brain, controlling bone, dissolving blood, controlling water and absorbing qi". To sum up, the "kidney" of traditional Chinese medicine mainly includes the following aspects:

1. Kidney stores essence-that is, the function of kidney includes reproductive ability and human life activities. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that kidney qi dominates the growth and development of human body, and human body from development to aging and death is the result of kidney qi from prosperity to decline. If men have kidney deficiency, they will suffer from impotence, nocturnal emission and lack of sperm. Women have less menstrual flow, amenorrhea, palace cold, infertility and aging.

2. Kidney governs water-the metabolism and excretion of human water are closely related to the function of kidney. Such as long and clear urine (large amount of color), enuresis, urinary incontinence, oliguria, body swelling, diarrhea (abdominal pain, abdominal sound, diarrhea in the morning) and so on. All of them are related to kidney qi deficiency.

3. Kidney governs bone marrow-kidney is closely related to bone growth and development, and also promotes bone marrow growth and hematopoiesis. People with kidney-qi deficiency have strong bones and teeth. People with kidney-qi deficiency are prone to tooth sloshing and falling off, and their waist and knees are sore or often feel pain. Deficiency of kidney qi leads to good hearing, and deficiency of kidney qi leads to poor hearing, even tinnitus and deafness. The kidney governs hair, which is full of kidney qi, and the hair is rich and shiny, while the kidney qi deficiency is dull, which is easy to produce white hair or hair loss.

4. Kidney governs the absorption of qi-Chinese medicine believes that "lung governs breathing and kidney governs absorption". If the kidney qi is insufficient and the inhaled gas is less than the exhaled gas, it is easy to be out of breath and often gasp.

From the above TCM theories, it is not difficult to find that the morphology, physiological functions and activities of the human body are closely related to the kidney. Zhuang Yahui, a Chinese medicine practitioner, said that compared with western medicine that human aging is closely related to the changes of certain hormones, Chinese medicine believes that the preservation and persistence of innate essence are closely related to anti-aging, and the innate essence of human body is under the overall jurisdiction of "kidney". By regulating the yin and yang of the kidney, the anti-aging mechanism in life can be strengthened.

Near the end of the year, kidney qi began to decline.

Zhuang Yahui pointed out that the average woman is about 14 years old, and the male is about 16 years old. The kidney qi is gradually filled, and she also begins to have reproductive ability; Women are nearly 28 years old and men are about 32 years old, which is the stage with the most abundant kidney qi and the strongest physical function development; But when women reach the age of 35 and men reach the age of 40, the kidney qi will gradually weaken and the function will gradually decline; When women reach the age of 49 and men reach the age of 56, the kidney qi is not as good as before, and the body obviously enters the aging stage.

In addition to the influence of natural aging, everyone's physique is also different due to the differences in innate conditions such as genes and races. Zhuang Yahui said that some people are born out of tune, but they can still remedy their congenital physical defects and keep their bodies strong. People with good innate constitution, if they don't know how to control and maintain, are always addicted to spicy and greasy food or cold and cold food, so that evil spirits can invade the body with inappropriate food. After a long time, it is prone to various aging diseases caused by acquired disorder.

Therefore, it is absolutely necessary for modern people to regulate kidney qi as soon as possible if they want to extend the warranty period of health and let themselves remain healthy and vigorous in the next 80 years.

Four common types of nephrotic syndrome

Therefore, before conditioning, we must first make clear what kind of syndrome we belong to. Zhuo Zibin pointed out that the common kidney diseases in China are as follows:

1. Deficiency of kidney qi (essence)-that is, what most people call "kidney deficiency" or "kidney deficiency", some are caused by insufficient congenital endowment or prolonged illness, and some are caused by excessive fatigue and kidney essence injury during sexual intercourse. Because the kidney governs the bone and produces marrow, patients with deficiency of kidney qi will have symptoms such as decreased reproductive function, skeletal dysplasia and marrow (brain) emptiness. If children's kidney qi is insufficient, it may lead to developmental retardation, fragile bones, delayed fontanel closure and mental retardation. In adulthood, it can cause premature aging, weakness of waist and knees, tooth loss, forgetfulness, tinnitus or deafness, male infertility, and female infertility due to amenorrhea and sexual dysfunction.

2. Deficiency of kidney yang (kidney yang deficiency)-kidney yang is weak due to congenital or old age, or kidney yang is damaged due to excessive sexual intercourse and long illness. The main symptoms are weakness in the waist and knees, chills and cold limbs, and physical exhaustion. Men have impotence, premature ejaculation, and a bad cold, while women have uterine deficiency and cold, infertility, * * * decrease or loose stool's diarrhea, frequent urination, nocturia or oliguria, dysuria, edema, pale or dark complexion, pale tongue with white fur and weak pulse. Patients with kidney-yang deficiency are prone to renal failure, exhaling more gas, inhaling less gas, and panting after a little activity.

3.
