Due to massive structure and abundant vertical joints that are easy to seep, steep peak forest or Fangshan terrain is formed by downward scouring by running water and gravity collapse.
Extended data:
Danxia landform is a steep slope landform developed from red beds (not limited to red beds) dominated by terrestrial (including non-continental interlayers). At present, this definition is accepted by most scholars, and it can also be expressed as "red bed landform characterized by steep cliffs"
Danxia landform is widely distributed in China. At present, Danxia landform 1005 has been identified, which is distributed in 28 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government and special administrative regions). Tropical and subtropical humid areas, temperate humid-semi-humid areas, semi-arid-arid areas and alpine areas of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau are all distributed. The lowest altitude can be formed in the eastern coastal area, and the highest altitude can appear on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau above 4000 meters ... but it is relatively concentrated in the southeast, southwest and northwest.
Except China, it is distributed in Central Europe and Australia, among which China is the most widely distributed. 1928, Feng Jinglan and others named the red strata that constitute Danxia Mountain and the corresponding strata in northern Guangdong as "Danxia Layer". In 1938, Chen first put forward the concept of "Danxia Mountain Terrain". 1939, Chen officially used the taxonomic term "Danxia landform", and the concepts of Danxia stratum and Danxia landform (landform is landform) have been used ever since.
Danxia landform is mainly distributed in China, the western United States (and the Grand Canyon in the United States is a typical Danxia landform), Central Europe and Australia, among which China is the most widely distributed. Up to June 365438+1October 3 1 day, 2008, 790 Danxia landforms have been discovered in China, distributed in 26 provinces and regions.
Danxia Mountain in the northeast of Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province is characterized by red Danxia and consists of red sandy continental sedimentary rocks. It is the world's "Danxia landform" named place, and the research on stratum, structure, landform, development and environmental evolution is the most detailed and in-depth in the Danxia landform area of the world. With a total area of 3 19 square kilometers, Danxia Mountain World Geopark was approved by UNESCO as one of the first world geoparks in China in 2004.
