Legend has it that there used to be a white monkey spirit here, who had magical powers, practiced monasticism and did evil deeds, which harmed kind folk women. When Liu Bowen was studying here, he heard the news and went into the cave alone. He killed the white monkey essence in a clever way and got three volumes of "gobbledygook" from the monkey cave. Later, Liu Bowen relied on three volumes of "gobbledygook" to help Zhu Yuanzhang's uprising and became a strategist, which was world-famous and not inferior to the Three Kingdoms. His tombstone is still standing outside the temple, which shows that people will always remember a person who has made contributions in history and can do harm to the people.
