Who are the Seven Sages of Bamboo Forest?
The Seven Sages of Bamboo Forest refer to Ji Kang, Ruan Ji, Dan Tao, Xiang Embroidery, Liu Ling, Wang Rong and Ruan Xian, and are called the Seven Sages first. Because he often lived under the bamboo forest in Shanyang County (now Huixian County, Henan Province) at that time, drinking and having fun freely, he was called the seven sages of the world, and later named the bamboo forest after the land name. Bamboo grove is a Buddhist classic attached by scholars in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, that is, the theory of "Geyi".

Wei Shaosheng pointed out in the article Textual Research on Several Issues of Seven Sages in Bamboo Forest (academic journal of zhongzhou No.5 1999) that "Bamboo Forest" should be located in Shanyang County, where Ji Kang, the central figure of the Seven Sages, lives. However, Mr. Chen Yinque thinks that there are "seven sages" first, and then "bamboo forest" in the third article of "Notes on the History of Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties". As the author of The Analects of Confucius, the number of "seven sages" is the same as that of "three kings" and "eight handsome men" in the late Eastern Han Dynasty. At the end of the Western Jin Dynasty, the style of "righteousness" prevailed. At the beginning of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Tianzhu was named "bamboo forest" and added to "seven sages" to become "seven sages of bamboo forest". "Bamboo grove" is neither a place name nor a real "bamboo grove".

The works of the Seven Sages of Bamboo Forest basically inherited the spirit of Jian 'an literature. However, due to the bloody rule at that time, writers could not express their thoughts directly, but could only express their thoughts and feelings subtly and tortuous through metaphors, symbols and myths. They have always been respected by people.
