The pace of life and work in modern society is accelerating, and many people feel psychologically overwhelmed. Only a healthy mind can meet all kinds of challenges in life and work, so how can it be regarded as mental health? Mental health needs both internal and external considerations, external relations, good interpersonal relationships and standardized behaviors. Internally, basic needs are met and psychological function is normal. Behavior conforms to external norms and can meet their own psychological needs, which is the characteristic of mental health people.
Mental health, in the final analysis, is an attitude towards life. Mentally healthy people look at the world and things around them with a positive eye. This kind of person is altruistic and can enhance his sense of self-worth in the process of giving and stretching himself. This kind of person pursues a lofty goal in life, but he doesn't want to overload his ability as a "perfect person" or "superman". Therefore, a mentally healthy person has a goal, but the goal cannot be too perfect. He should be proactive, face up to the objective reality, and have a certain moral code of procedural flexibility. The lack of moral concept and adherence to the concept of "super-morality" are the common characteristics of patients with abnormal personality and neurosis.
In addition, mental health is not a psychological balance. Mental health is not in a state of balance and adaptation, but in the middle of the two poles. Usually people understand adaptation as obedience to the surrounding environment and balance as inner conflict, but this is not mental health. Then a person who is content with the status quo, has no pursuit and does not make progress will have a very balanced heart, because he will not have frustration and conflict. Is he healthy or unhealthy? If "adaptation" refers to health, then some people in society now talk nonsense to everyone and make good plans. Is this kind of person healthy? In fact, the above two kinds of people may not be happy, and their psychology may not be normal.
Generally speaking, it is called "negative" or "low level" mental health to eliminate excessive tension and achieve internal balance, but "positive" or "high level" mental health should be advocated. This state means that there is always a lofty goal to pursue, to develop constructive interpersonal relationships, to create social values, to meet high-level needs, and to seek the enrichment of life. Its essence is always pursuit, and it is always a process of balance-imbalance-balance.
Mental health is a dynamic process. Because mental health does not mean that there are no setbacks, conflicts and pains, but it can be effectively adjusted and maintain good efficiency in this state.
