At the beginning of the last century, Suzhou, as a trading port, was influenced by foreign culture, and a large number of western architectural styles emerged after the Opium War. In this context, in addition to many buildings with the style of the Republic of China, some streets in Suzhou have even become "streets with the style of the Republic of China", such as "Wu30th Road".
May 30th Road, named to commemorate the May 30th Massacre, has the familiar Tongdeli and Li Tongyi on the north side near Ganjiang Road.
Tong Deli and Li Tongyi
In Tongdeli and Li Tongyi next door, two parallel alleys were built in 1930s, both of which are typical Shikumen buildings. Some houses have red brick exterior walls, some have clear water exterior walls, most of which are in the shape of traditional three-dimensional courtyard in the south of the Yangtze River, and there is a yard in front of the building.
As the location of the hit TV series Everything is Fine, Tondley has become a popular punching place in recent years. The historic buildings, narrow alleys and patios of old houses here make you feel the breath of life instantly.
Wuchan road
There are some sealed Shikumen at the south end of Wu30 Road. The above relief tells the history of the May 30th Massacre, and the characters vividly reproduce the patriotic feats of Suzhou people.
The building of the Republic of China behind the Shikumen where the relief is located is Xinfuli, a residential group in Haixiang Shikumen.
Li xinfu
It was named Xinfuli because in 22 years of the Republic of China (1933), Xinfuli Bank bought this property which originally belonged to Jiangsu Marine Police Zone 3 and built it. There used to be six two-story buildings, but now only five have been kept.
Suzhou has many buildings of the Republic of China similar to Tongdeli and Xinfuli. These places are not only windows to see some people's lifestyles at that time, but also good places for modern people to experience "the customs of the Republic of China".
Ji In Lee
The Republic of China building in Li Zhiren is located in Xiatang of Nagato Hotel in the northwest corner of Suzhou Ancient City, with a total length of160m. It was built by a businessman named Que in the 1920s. At the beginning of construction, the buildings here were designed for living.
In 2009, Li Zhiren was selected as the "Important New Discovery of the Third National Cultural Relics Survey in 2008" edited by National Cultural Heritage Administration. In July of the same year, it was listed as the sixth batch of Suzhou cultural relics protection units by the municipal government. 20 1 1 February, Li Zhiren Republic of China architecture was listed as the seventh batch of cultural relics protection units in Jiangsu province by the provincial government.
The building faces south, with six groups of bungalows, six groups of buildings and two garden houses. It is a representative of a large-scale real estate leasing construction group in the Republic of China. The whole Zhiren Lane is huge in scale, connected by arcades and integrated. Li Zhiren buildings have traces of both western architecture and traditional wooden structures. There are both high-grade buildings and ordinary bungalows, which are rich in types and distinctive in the times, which is very rare.
These buildings of the Republic of China with different styles and sizes are arranged in three rows, which constitute the buildings of the Republic of China in Li Zhiren. It is a combination of Chinese and western architectural forms in the Republic of China, and it is also a typical representative of the development of Soviet-style courtyards in this period, which has outstanding historical value.
Nagato North Wharf
Separated from Shantang Street by a river, there is also a amorous feelings street bearing the history of the Republic of China-Nagato North Wharf. As the hub of Suzhou's land and water transportation, the former Nagato North Wharf extended in all directions and was bustling. Today, Nagato North Wharf has been transformed into a Min Guo Street, which is integrated with Xizhongcheng and faces Shantang Street across the river. The 700-meter-long North Wharf Minguo Style Street consists of two renovated buildings and more than a dozen imitation buildings. The combination of exquisite Chinese architecture and luxurious and elegant European decoration formed the architectural style of the Republic of China.
Two famous foreign buildings in North Wharf, named after the real construction year, are now called "1929" and "193 1" respectively, which can be regarded as the most representative buildings in the Republic of China. They not only have traditional quadrangles in China, but also traditional wooden buildings. Influenced by foreign architectural styles in the early 20th century, they condensed the development of modern architecture in Suzhou and were incorporated into the landscape of Suzhou.
From these two buildings, we can get a glimpse of the architectural style of "combining Chinese and western" in the Republic of China, as well as the wealth and fashion of the owners at that time. At present, Nagato North Wharf has become a characteristic business circle integrating the historical landscape of the city wall and the waterfront landscape of the moat, attracting many citizens and tourists to punch in.
Jinguli
Located in the north section of Pingjiang Road Historic Block, Suzhou, in Jinguli by Pingjiang River. The original site is the original Wuxian embroidery factory. First stop: Suzhou Museum
It can be said that this is the place that everyone who comes to Suzhou for the first time must want to go and it is also the starting point of our route. Taking Subo as a starting point, first, because of its high popularity, it comes from the hands of design masters, and people who admire punching cards are in an endless stream; Secondly, as the most intuitive presentation of a city's cultural connotation, the museum is the best entry point for us to understand a city. Let's start with Su Bo as our first stop.

The color tone of Su Bo takes the traditional powder wall and tile as the element, which adds a new interpretation connotation to the architectural symbols in the south of the Yangtze River. In terms of architectural structure, the design of roof form breaks through the shackles of traditional Chinese architecture "big roof" in lighting, and glass and open steel structure can allow indoor rooms to borrow a big skylight.
Su Bo's landscape design is to extract the essence from Suzhou classical gardens. The creative landscape garden composed of ponds, rockeries, bridges, pavilions and bamboo forests is organically combined with traditional gardens, creatively integrating museums, ancient buildings and gardens.

Among them, the Zhu Zhen Treasure House, which was listed in CCTV's National Treasure, is one of them. This treasure house contains woodcarving, gold carving, jade carving, pearl piercing and gold and silver seiko in Suzhou at that time. There are more than 40 thousand pearls in the whole treasure house, which embodies the wisdom and hard work of skilled craftsmen at that time. It can be called "the treasure of the town hall" by Su Bo.

Second stop: Zhongwangfu
The Loyalty Palace, which many people ignore, is well worth seeing. As a part of Suzhou Museum, it no longer plays an exhibition role, because its architectural style is quite different from that of Subo, which is often ignored by tourists. But in fact, it contains Gankun, and the wisteria planted by hand in Wenhengshan, known as the "national treasure", is also in the present Zhongxiao Palace.

Wen Zhiming planted wisteria by himself, which is an ancient and famous Suzhou garden landscape. It is located in the inner corner of the central garden gate of the former Humble Administrator's Garden, and now this area has been assigned to the Loyalty Palace next door. This wisteria was planted by Wen Zhiming, one of the four great talents in the south of the Yangtze River, when he was building the Humble Administrator's Garden. Wen Zhiming was a famous painter and painter in Ming Dynasty and one of the founders of Wu Pai.
He has a close relationship with Wang, the owner of the Humble Administrator's Garden. After the completion of the Humble Administrator's Garden, Wang often invited him to dinner and enjoy it. Wen Zhiming is an anthomaniac obsessed with wisteria. And when he was in my humble administrator's garden, he planted this wisteria in the garden himself, which has been more than 400 years. The trunk diameter of this wisteria tree is 22 cm at breast height. It is twisted and curved, with a crane-shaped dragon, garlands and tassels hanging like a string of purple jade. It has great ornamental value and is known as one of the "Three Musts in Suzhou". In February of 20021year, it was listed in CCTV's National Treasure.
Zhongyi Palace used to be the Eight Banners Zhili Guild Hall, so many northern architectural styles and features are integrated into Suzhou's architectural style, such as the "quadrangle" of Zhongyi Palace, which is unique in Suzhou's classical architecture.
In addition, the guild hall is a gathering place for fellow villagers, and also a place for businessmen to negotiate trade, often with a stage. The classic stage is the building of Zhongwangfu East Road, which was built by the Eight Banners Feng Zhi Guild Hall using the courtyard of the South Courtyard. After several repairs, it has basically maintained its original appearance and is one of the well-preserved indoor classical stages in China.

Third stop: Humble Administrator's Garden
After coming out of Zhongwangfu, turn left slightly and then go back to Northeast Street. After dozens of steps, I arrived at Humble Administrator's Garden, one of the four famous gardens in China and the most famous tourist attraction in Suzhou.
This garden was built in the Ming Dynasty and designed by Wen Zhiming, four great talents. I won't go into details about the history of Humble Administrator's Garden here. I will probably understand it after listening to the tour guide's explanation. As for how to play, you can provide some suggestions, so that everyone can have some different experiences whether they play by themselves or with a group.

Borrowing scenery is a gardening technique that many Suzhou gardens will use, and the pond in the middle garden of Humble Administrator's Garden is the best one.
