Why are there so many pharmacies in the streets of China?
In recent years, I believe many people will have the impression that various pharmacies have sprung up next to every hospital and community.

Then many people will think, "Will it be very profitable to open a pharmacy?" Will you get rich and reach the peak of your life? "

In fact, this feeling may be due to the particularity of pharmacies, giving people an illusion. Take the door of our community as an example. On a street more than 200 meters away, there are 5 second-hand housing agencies, 4 pharmacies, 4 convenience stores and 3 hot pot restaurants. ....

It can be seen that although the number and density of pharmacies are also large, compared with other fields, they are only one piece of the Red Sea and will not occupy much competitive advantage.

In fact, pharmacies, like real estate agents, convenience stores and restaurants, are all over the streets, but the former is more eye-catching, so it attracts more attention.

Of course, there is no denying that there are more and more pharmacies now. Compared with other stores, pharmacies do have some unique operational advantages, which I will elaborate below.

First of all, how much profit does the pharmacy have?

Many people who don't know much about this industry think that the profits of pharmacies must be very high. Otherwise, how can so many pharmacies be opened?

But in fact, all walks of life are difficult to do now, so many people open pharmacies must mean great competition. I learned from a friend who runs a pharmacy that the average gross profit of a general pharmacy can be around 40%-45%;

For example, the monthly turnover is 50,000 and the gross profit is about 22,500-22,500. After deducting personnel salaries, rent, utilities, marketing expenses and other expenses. The rest is actually not so impressive.

In addition, many drugs produced by first-line brands must implement the national unified price of the brands, and the gross profit of these drugs is basically less than10%; Only some drugs with low brand requirements, such as patches, have a gross profit of about 70%.

Of course, the health care products sold by pharmacies are artifacts that can improve the average gross profit of the entire pharmacy. According to some surveys, the gross profit of health care products is comparable to that of Maotai, and some even reach 90%, which means that selling health care products 1000 yuan, 900 yuan is gross profit!

Then why do so many people open pharmacies? What are its operational advantages?

This problem is divided into two aspects, the advantage of demand and the advantage of pharmacy's own field.

1, just need an advantage

There are more and more patients with chronic diseases.

With the popularization of medical treatment and more and more advanced medical equipment, all kinds of chronic diseases can be comprehensively detected and treated, so more and more patients begin to take drugs to control chronic diseases. Many patients with diabetes, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases need lifelong medication to control their condition. This group is also a huge group of pharmacy consumption.

● Health awareness is getting stronger and stronger.

With the economic conditions getting better and better, people begin to pay attention to maintenance and health care. Many families take cordyceps sinensis, donkey-hide gelatin, notoginseng, royal jelly and so on. As a daily health care product.

As we all know, the biggest profit of pharmacies is not drugs but health care products!

● The medical insurance policy is getting better and better.

When there was no medical insurance before, ordinary people needed to pay for medicines themselves, and few people consumed medicines under economic conditions;

Now the national medical insurance policy is getting better and better, and people have medical insurance reimbursement when buying medicines, so there is little pressure to consume medicines.

2. Pharmacy has two "big brother attributes"

● Don't bargain

I believe that most people do not have a correct understanding of the price of drugs. Except for several commonly used drugs, they are not very clear about the prices of other drugs, which gives pharmacies a certain operating space.

Through my own observation, I found that in several pharmacies next to the community, a box of more than a dozen drugs will have a price gap of several dollars or even as high as 10 yuan.

● No retail.

I believe that most people have the experience of eating half and throwing away half after buying medicine. A long time ago, when we went to buy medicine, we always filled the medicine according to the number of times we took it after opening the box.

No matter what medicine you buy now, you have to buy it box by box at the drugstore. Except for some medicines at home, you can only eat a little when you buy them, and throw away the rest after a while.

A little knowledge of popular science, hospitals and pharmacies, whose medicine is cheaper?

In fact, the prices of many drugs in hospitals are lower than those in pharmacies outside, or even much lower!

Because this is a national policy, it is called "drug zero price difference", that is, drugs purchased by public hospitals can only be bought and sold as much as possible, and price increases are not allowed.

For example, the hospital purchased amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium for treating acute suppurative tonsillitis in children at 8.27 yuan/box, and only sold it at 8.27 yuan/box. Besides, this medicine is sold in the drugstore outside, at least 15-20 yuan.

Then someone said, you can just buy medicine and go to the hospital in the future. Cheap and affordable.

That's true, but first of all, it's more convenient for pharmacies to buy medicine than hospitals. You can buy it downstairs. When you come to the hospital to buy medicine, you need to queue up and register first. Would you like to wait in line for a few hours in order to save a few dollars? Besides, are you sure you have enough money to save for the registration fee?

Finally, I ended with a sentence that touched me the most since I became a doctor-"but I would rather put the medicine on the shelf and turn it into dust, if I want to keep the world away from diseases."
