Eight-treasure porridge, also known as Laba porridge, Buddha porridge and Qibao porridge, is a traditional festival food of Han nationality. Eight-treasure porridge has the functions of promoting digestion, stimulating appetite and strengthening physical strength.

Eight-treasure porridge, as its name implies, is made of eight main ingredients. A glutinous rice, an longan, a third red bean, a fourth mung bean, a fifth peanut kernel, a sixth lotus seed, a seventh millet and an eighth red date. Of course, according to different personal tastes, it can also be changed appropriately.

Prepare ingredients

Glutinous rice, longan, red beans, mung beans, peanuts, lotus seeds, red dates and millet.

Start making

1. Soak the red dates in warm water and rinse them off.

2. Wash the glutinous rice and soak it for 30 minutes.

3. Put glutinous rice, red dates, red beans, mung beans and lotus seeds into the pot, add appropriate amount of water and cook for 20 minutes. When the soup is thick, add longan, millet and peanuts and cook for 8 minutes.
