What's the difference between worshipping Buddha and kowtowing?
There are two main ways to worship Buddha, one is the way handed down from the Han Dynasty, and the other is the way to worship Buddha in Tibet (commonly known as big worship, also called kowtow). Different forms, different learning contents, but the inner respect and sincerity for all buddhas and bodhisattvas are the same.

Whether you convert or not has nothing to do with whether you can worship Buddha at home, because learning Buddhism is just learning how to seek the Buddha's dharma in your heart and how to see your own nature clearly.

Kowtowing is a unique way of worshipping Buddha in Tibetan Buddhism, just like worshipping Buddha in Han Buddhism, but the way of worshipping Buddha is somewhat different, but the essence is the same. They all respect Buddhists and repent their karma.
