Xu Hong is a famous name in the Chinese community in Vancouver. She can always be seen in the mainstream activities of major Chinese. Since arriving in Vancouver, she has been enthusiastic about community service. At present, her positions include President of Weston Asia Society, Vice President of Canadian Chinese Federation and Honorary President of Canadian Chinese Women's Federation. However, few people know what she does after public service. Xu Hong said that before coming to Canada in 2000, she was mainly engaged in import and export trade, and she also made proud achievements in the investment field.
Although she achieved great success in business operation, Xu Hong gradually felt that family ties were far more valuable than wealth, so after coming to Canada, she devoted all her thoughts to her son's education. In order to integrate her son into the mainstream Canadian society, she sent him to Mulgrave, a famous private school in Wen Xi, but such a famous school has no Chinese teacher. She also found that although the school leaders are all education experts with international vision, their understanding of China still stays in the poor and backward times in the past. Out of pride in her motherland, she took the initiative to lead the school principal and other senior leaders to visit China, making them realize that China is very different from the past.
During the inspection, the school leaders marveled at the development speed of China, and said that if they had funds, they would be happy to let the children learn Chinese and feel the market pulse and cultural charm of China. Xu Hong resolutely decided to donate 6.5438+0.5 million Canadian dollars to help schools find high-quality Chinese teachers and offer Chinese courses. Since then, mulgrave has had its first Chinese teacher, and Xu Hong has formed an indissoluble bond with the promotion of Chinese education. For ten years, she has been funding the development of Chinese courses in mulgrave.
Xu Hong said that although she started to engage in educational charity in order to give her son a better Chinese education, in the process, she became more and more aware of the importance of Canadian natives to Chinese people and their ignorance and incomprehension of the development of China. She hopes that more children in China will remember the language of their motherland, and that more Canadians will know China better, even though all this is difficult. After all, at that time, the best private schools in Wen Xi had no precedent for offering Chinese courses, and other schools generally lacked such awareness.
The entrepreneurial spirit in her bones makes her more effective in the face of challenges. As a Canadian and a child of China, she is determined to make Canada realize the importance of Chinese. She hopes that by promoting Chinese, Canadian entrepreneurs can better open up the China market, enjoy the dividends after China's reform and opening up, and promote exchanges and trade between China and Canada.
Since 2007, Xu Hong has persisted in promoting Chinese courses, donated money to schools, and led school leaders and their friends to visit and inspect China many times. Hong Xu told them that there is a population of 654.38+04 billion and a growing middle class of 300 million. Learning Chinese and understanding China culture can expand the market of Canadian enterprises from 30 million to1400 million.
School leaders in mulgrave were moved by the charm of China and the persistence of Xu Hong. With the financial support of Ms. Xu Hong, they have continuously expanded their teachers and Chinese courses, and her years of public welfare investment has also achieved initial results: from nothing at the beginning to a high-quality Chinese teacher at 12, no one ever realized that more than 200 students took Chinese as an elective course. Such a scale of Chinese teaching is rare in basic education in North America. These developments made Xu Hong feel gratified and gave her confidence in expanding education in China.
At the beginning of this year, xu teacher got to know the teachers who have studied Chinese teaching for 26 years through the introduction of friends, and learned a set of methods to learn Chinese quickly and efficiently. In the past, people often thought that learning Chinese was difficult and slow, but under this teaching method, children who can only listen and read can master 800 words in 50 hours, while zero-based learners can speak Chinese fluently in 30 hours.
Xu Hong's first reaction was, Great, this method can help teachers in mulgrave improve their teaching efficiency. But after consulting with her friend Niu Gensheng, she also realized that if a company could be set up, more Chinese descendants and westerners could learn Chinese quickly. New western companies came into being.
Xu Hong introduced that this teaching method completely abandoned the traditional Chinese teaching method of rote learning, and used the unique rules of Chinese characters and associative memory method to help students memorize Chinese characters quickly and effortlessly. More importantly, the western new Chinese textbooks help students explore the writing rules of Chinese characters themselves, sum up the rules through independent thinking and use them quickly, and think about the cultural stories behind Chinese characters to achieve an unforgettable effect. Therefore, Xu Hong said that children can not only learn Chinese quickly, but also become smarter because they can think.
Hong Xu believes that with the development of the Belt and Road, Chinese will become a world language comparable to English. How to learn Chinese quickly and train children's thinking ability with a set of scientific learning methods that conform to the laws of human memory is the most important task for her later life.
