The origin of eye exercises

Eye exercises are a mass movement, which can improve people's awareness of eye protection, regulate blood circulation of eyes and head, regulate muscles and improve eye fatigue. By massaging the acupoints around the eyes, the blood in the eyes can be unblocked, and the nerve nutrition can be improved, thus eliminating the tension or spasm of the ciliary muscles.

In fact, in China, eye exercises began in the 1960s and originated from a health survey. 196 1 Beijing municipal education bureau conducted a vision survey among primary and secondary school students in the city. The results show that the myopia rate of primary and secondary school students increases obviously with age. The myopia rate of primary school students is 10%, junior high school students are 20%, and senior high school students are as high as 30%. This set of survey data made many people realize the urgency and necessity of protecting the eyesight of primary and secondary school students at that time, so they began to try to find a good way to protect their eyesight.

Subsequently, a director of the sports research group who is proficient in massage and suffers from eye diseases created a set of eye exercises to treat his own eye diseases during his usual exploration, and achieved certain results. The teacher of the Physical Education Department of Beijing Education Bureau decided to try it out in a school in Beijing. 1963. The first set of eye exercises gradually entered primary and secondary schools in Beijing.

In 2008, a new version of eye exercises came out. From May to July, 2008, Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention conducted trial tracking and effect evaluation of the new version of eye exercises for 300 primary and middle school students. By comparing the changes of students' eyesight, mental labor ability index and eye blood flow velocity before and after the operation of the new and old eye exercises, it is estimated that the new version of eye exercises has obvious effects on improving students' eyesight and relieving eye fatigue, and all the indexes are better than the old version of eye exercises. Since then, the new version of eye exercises has been implemented in primary and secondary schools across the country.
