Cultivation techniques and root treatment of elm downhill piles.
Cultivate it with thick soil first, keep it moist and warm, and let it take root and sprout. Do not water the plants for about 3-5 days after planting. You can replenish water to plants by spraying water. It is also necessary to keep plants in a cool place and avoid direct sunlight. In the first two years of cultivation, light fertilizer can be applied without topdressing. Maintain a suitable growth temperature, neither too high nor too low. When the roots are treated, erythromycin ointment needs to be applied to the wound, dried and then planted in wet sand.

I. Cultivation techniques

1. thick soil planting: when planting with downhill piles, it is necessary to plant with thick soil because of moisture and heat preservation. In order to prevent the stump from losing water, two-thirds of the stump can be covered with wet sand until the plants germinate. After the plants survive, the cultivated soil can be gradually reduced. In addition, plants can be covered with plastic film to reduce water loss. Never use clay and nutrient soil with high fertility.

2. Water spraying to induce roots: Because elm likes to be dry and is afraid of waterlogging, too much water will make the roots rot during cultivation, and it is difficult to take root when it is insufficient. So you can often use a sprayer to spray water on the stump, or you can spray water on the soil or roots.

3. Proper shading: reduce the light when raising piles. Elm downhill piles need shade all year round when planted, so it is best to put them in the shade.

4. Apply light fertilizer: too much fertilizer will cause fertilizer damage to the roots, and the plant's own reserves and the original fertilizer in the soil are enough to restore its growth. During the pile-raising period, topdressing is not needed for one or two years.

5. Suitable temperature pile: After the plants survive, the cold resistance will be seriously reduced, and heat preservation measures need to be taken in winter. Thick soil can be used for outdoor planting and potted plants can overwinter indoors, but the room temperature should not be too high.

Second, how to deal with it

First of all, put the elm stump in the shade to dry the roots, and apply erythromycin ointment and other drugs to the stump wound. In addition, rooting powder can be applied to the root of the stump to make it take root quickly. When planting outdoors, you can plant the stump in the ground first, and then water it for about a week. If it is potted indoors, you can plant it with wet sand first, and don't water it for at least three days after covering the soil and compacting it, so as to resume growth.
