The roots of American ginseng produced in Wendeng are shorter than ginseng, fleshy, spindle-shaped, cylindrical or conical, with few branches, 3- 12 cm long and 0.8-2 cm in diameter.

The cultivation of American ginseng in Rongcheng City began in the mid-1990s, and after continuous development, it has become one of the main American ginseng producing areas in Shandong Peninsula.
