According to different materials, the existing flowerpots can be divided into the following types:
(1) Vegetarian-fired pottery pots are generally better than porcelain pots for flower cultivation. Tile basin is not only economical and practical, but also has ideal air permeability and water permeability because there are many fine holes in the basin wall, which is beneficial to the decomposition of fertilizer in the basin soil and the respiratory growth of roots. Disadvantages are monotonous color, unsightly shape, rough surface, few specifications and easy to break. Usually the new basin is better than the old one. The new pot not only can be flooded, but also can alleviate the fertilizer efficiency, and it absorbs heat and dissipates quickly, and the temperature difference between day and night is large, which is beneficial to the decomposition of organic fertilizer in the soil. Both blue and red pots are used equally, but attention should be paid to the quality of the pots. Generally, adobe is fine, the temperature is suitable, the sound is crisp and the surface is shiny. This kind of earthen basin is very durable. Poor quality pottery pots, with irregular shape, insufficient heat, uneven color and dull sound, can't stand the erosion of water and fertilizer and will soon crack. If the hole of the basin protrudes inward and the bottom of the basin is uneven, it is easy to cause water in the nest, which is not conducive to flower cultivation.
(2) The plastic basin is light in weight, convenient to use, not easy to break, durable, and smooth inside and outside the basin wall, which is not only easy to knock the soil when changing the basin, but also easy to clean and disinfect. But it is impermeable to air and water, so it is only suitable for planting water-resistant and wet flowers and trees, such as Eclipta prostrata, Phyllostachys pubescens, calla lily, Guangdong Evergreen, or warm flowers and trees, such as fern, chlorophytum, Commelina communis, winter coral, night lilac and so on. At present, there is a plastic basin for washing rice and vegetables on the market, which looks like a washbasin. The wall, bottom and periphery of the basin are covered with fine holes. There are various specifications of 20-35 cm caliber, which can also be used for planting flowers. Because the basin wall is porous, it is easy to leak mud. However, a circle of plastic sand net can be lined on the inner wall of the basin, which can reduce leakage and breathe. If the wall of the pot is afraid of being easily crushed by the weight of the soil, sawdust can be used instead of the soil to plant flowers and trees, making it an ideal flowerpot for raising flowers on the balcony.
(3) Magnetic basin and glazed basin. Flowers and trees are planted in glazed flowerpots, and the outer wall of the pots is painted with colored glaze, which is airtight and impermeable. It is difficult to grasp the wet and dry conditions of flower pots, especially in winter, because flowers and trees often rot and die because of too much watering. So it is not suitable for planting flowers and trees. Because of its beautiful appearance and diverse shapes, magnetic flowerpots can generally be used as a set of flowerpots for placing flowers and trees.
