What are the advantages of learning Buddhism?
You can get rid of all kinds of troubles in life.

The core of Buddhism-getting rid of troubles-is not asking God to worship Buddha, blessing Buddha and Bodhisattva and other issues that have nothing to do with real Buddhism.

When it comes to Buddhism, many people will think that Buddhism is a religion. Others believe that Buddhism is a culture, a science, or a life. These are all right, but not completely right.

So what exactly is Buddhism?

Buddhism, Pali Buddhism-Sana.

Buddha, transliterated as Buddha in ancient times, means enlightened person and awakened person. Wake up what? Awaken the truth of the world and life. What does consciousness depend on? With wisdom. If a person fully understands life and the world, he is called an awakened one. The first person to realize the truth of life and the world and declare it, we call him Buddha.

Sàsana means to teach. The so-called Buddha, because the Buddha thoroughly realized the truth of life and the world, and then taught us to understand the world and the truth of life, so that we also have the wisdom of enlightenment. Therefore, this teaching method is called Buddhism, which is the teaching of Buddhism and the teaching of the awakened.

The Buddha we are talking about now refers to Dammam Buddha in Sakyamuni, India in the 6th century BC (624- 544 BC). The Buddhism we are talking about now also refers to the teachings of Goumada Buddha.

What exactly did Goldmaff teach? What is the truth of the world and life that he understands and teaches?

Do you agree that the world we live in is bittersweet or that life is bittersweet? Life must be bitter. There must be joy when there is pain, and there must be pain after the joy. Even if a person can call the shots and enjoy all the splendor, he will eventually get old, get sick and eventually die. We often have to be with people, things and things we don't like; But you can't always be with the person you like. Even if you are together, you will eventually be separated. I have many ideals and many wishes, but I can't get what I want. There are too many unrealistic things in the world. In short, as long as there is this pair of body and mind, there will inevitably be various defects and regrets.

So we say that life is incomplete, full of defects, and suffering is greater than pleasure.

Why are these phenomena? Because there is trouble!

Trouble, in the eyes of ordinary people, usually refers to inner boredom or anxiety. The troubles referred to in Buddhism cover a much wider range, including not only irritability, depression and anxiety, but also greed, persistence, selfishness, arrogance, vanity, jealousy, meanness, wrong opinions, suspicion, suspicion, anger, hatred, cruelty, disgust, ignorance, numbness, confusion and so on. In today's words, it is a negative emotion and a bad psychological state.

The fundamental goal of learning Buddhism is to get rid of these troubles. If a method can't get rid of troubles, it's not the Buddha's teaching!

Buddha didn't ask you to live forever, ascend to heaven and become immortal, or seek wealth, fame, profit, official, son, object, further study, happiness and peace ... No, these are not Buddhism!

The Buddha taught us to really know our body and mind and get rid of our troubles. This is Buddhism! If you only want this and that, then why do you have to become a monk? True Buddhism does not ask for anything, but asking for something is a kind of trouble in itself. The Buddha taught us to cut off our troubles, including the heart we want.

Maybe someone will say, "Why should I learn Buddhism? Why should I practice? You Buddhists say that life is bitter, and I feel very happy. I am still young, there is no need to imagine myself very old; I am still healthy, there is no need to pretend to be sick; Death is still far away for me, so I don't think it is necessary to learn Buddhism. Even if I want to learn, I will plan when I am old. "

Yes, for some people, it's really not a very profound experience. However, birth, illness and death are real-life phenomena, and they are only the result, not the cause. Buddha taught us to practice not from the result, but from the cause. You don't burn incense at ordinary times, and it's useless to cram in an emergency. This is like a person who doesn't pay attention to his physical and mental health at ordinary times, overeating and living irregularly, and it's too late to dig wells when he is terminally ill. A society does not advocate health care, but only knows how to build hospitals and clinics; A country does not advocate folk morality, but only knows that setting up police and prisons is a way to treat the symptoms rather than the root cause.

Similarly, life is reality, suffering is the result, the cause of suffering is trouble, and trouble is the culprit. To solve the fundamental problems in life and get rid of all kinds of hardships, we must start with troubles. Relieving troubles is the goal of Buddhist practice. As long as a person is sick, he should be treated. As long as a person has troubles, he must practice.

The starting point of Buddhism is worry. If a person has no worries, he doesn't need to learn Buddhism or practice. Buddhism means nothing to him. It's like if I'm healthy, I don't need to see a doctor or take medicine. But it is precisely because people have worries, all kinds of negative psychology, bad mentality, easy to be nervous, anxious, persistent, easy to haggle over every ounce, easy to be swayed by considerations of gain and loss, and their hearts are full of selfishness, vanity, distress and so on, which brings us a lot of pain. If you want inner peace and real happiness, you must find ways to get rid of these troubles.

If you want to get rid of troubles, you must first understand the troubles and the causes of troubles, so that you can prescribe the right medicine.

Although there are many kinds of troubles, they can all be summed up in three categories: greed, anger and stupidity.

What is greed? Greed means wanting something and clinging to the object.

What is anger? Anger is the object of inner dislike, dislike, disgust and resentment. From anger, fierceness and cruelty to melancholy and irritability, they all belong to anger.

What is delusion? Insanity is the ignorance, blindness and ignorance of the mind to the goal.

How did these troubles come about?

According to Buddhism, what we call the world is nothing more than two kinds: one is our own body and mind, and the other is the external environment. What is your body and mind? Refers to the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and mind. What the eyes see is color, light, etc. What the ear hears is sound; What the nose smells is smell; The tongue tastes the taste; What the body touches is the sense of touch, such as softness, hardness, smoothness, thickness, lightness, heaviness, coldness and warmth, as well as pain and itching. The mind is thinking about various phenomena.

Without eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and mind, without color, sound, smell, taste, touch and what you think, there would be no body and mind, no external environment and no world.

Living in this world is nothing more than the interaction between your body and mind and the outside world. When the eyes see something beautiful, they will feel happy, think that this object is good and beautiful, and then they will like and love it. If this kind of liking psychology is further strengthened, it will produce the psychology of wanting and owning each other. This kind of psychology is greed.

Similarly, when we hear sweet music, praise from others, smell fragrance, eat delicious food and touch the smooth skin of the opposite sex, greed is easy to occur.

When a person sees something he doesn't like, hears unpleasant sounds, smells unpleasant smells, eats bad food, or the weather is extremely hot, he will feel disgusted (suffering), think that the object is bad or bad, and will feel rejection and disgust inside. If this exclusion is further strengthened, people will be angry, angry and even want to treat it in a rude way. This kind of psychology is anger.

However, both greed and anger contain delusion. Ignorance is ignorance, ignorance of things, body and mind, and the truth of the world. Because of delusion, greed and anger will arise.

In short, greed, pursuit, persistence and obsession, as well as Jaken, arrogance and vanity, all belong to greed. Anger, irritability, jealousy, anxiety, hatred, etc. All belong to anger; Numbness, stupidity, ignorance, trance, etc. It's a delusion. All troubles can be classified as greed, anger and delusion.

There are three kinds of troubles: greed, anger and delusion. Buddhism calls it the root of three evils, which is the root of all troubles.

The so-called worry is actually based on the relationship between internal and external environment. With a heart without external environment, troubles will not arise; If there is an external environment and there is no intention, troubles will still not arise. This is a pair of relationships-the relationship between the heart and the outside world. The three troubles of greed and ignorance are simply the relationship between this pair:

Be careful to cling to the outside world, like objects, and want to own and possess objects. This is called greed.

Don't like the outside world, be careful when you reject the object. This is called anger.

Because you don't understand the nature of the external environment, you think that if the object is good, you can get happiness and you can satisfy yourself. This is called delusion.

When we understand this relationship-we want what is good and we want to refuse what is bad-troubles arise.

According to the severity of its performance, the fault can be divided into three levels:

The first level is called offending annoyance. Offensive annoyance is that a person's bad psychology has been manifested in his behavior. For example, a person is furious enough to kill or kill; Stealing other people's property and robbing because of greed; Fighting, swearing, cheating, gossiping; In order to climb up, stop at nothing to suppress others; Indulge in pursuing the opposite sex, playing with feelings, eating, drinking and gambling. The troubles in the heart have been revealed in the body's behavior and language, which is the so-called aggression trouble. This kind of trouble is the most rude trouble, which is already burning people's body and mind.

The second level is called disturbing people's troubles, that is, a person's troubles just emerge in his heart, not revealed, and not put into action. This includes greed, persistence, arrogance, conceit, disgust, irritability, disorganization, depression, numbness and so on. For example, if you hate someone to death, but you don't take any action or say it, you just hate him in your heart. For another example, you feel anxious and irritable, but you are not impulsive. Although it is not revealed in language and behavior, it has been occupied by bad psychology and bad emotions, which is called disturbing people.

The third level is called potential trouble. Potential troubles refer to troubles that are not revealed in actions, words and hearts. In other words, there are no worries now, but that doesn't mean there are no worries at all. They just exist in a latent state. For example, when everyone is doing a good deed, the heart born is called kindness. When you are born kind and do good deeds, you may not feel upset and have no troubles, but as long as you meet the right conditions, your troubles will come out immediately. For example, now everyone is very happy to sit here and listen to the teachings of the Buddha, and put their work aside for the time being without worry; But after listening to it, as soon as I got back to my desk and saw a lot of unfinished documents, I immediately became irritable again, didn't I? Some practitioners can sit still and meditate for hours, even days and nights, and their hearts are happily settled in meditation. During his meditation, as long as he stays in meditation, he can enjoy the pleasure of meditation without any distractions, not to mention troubles. However, when he decides, when he sees beautiful things, hears pleasant sounds, eats delicious food and so on. It is inevitable that there will be greed in his heart, which proves that his troubles have not been completely lifted, but he has been suppressed by concentration in his decision. Just like grass, in winter, all the grass is dead and dry; But as long as the roots are still there, spring begins to sprout again. Just like pulling grass, only pulling grass, not pulling roots, will grow if there is a chance. As long as trouble is not uprooted, it exists in a latent state, which is called potential trouble.

As Buddhism, that is, the teaching of the awakened one, the purpose is to get rid of these three levels of troubles.

How should we get rid of these troubles?

Buddhism calls the way to get rid of troubles practice.

Practice, also called meditation, is called BHàvana in Pali.

What does BHàvana mean?

It's cultivation!

Cultivate what?

Cultivate discipline, determination and wisdom!

Discipline refers to morality and conduct. Clarity means inner peace. Wisdom is wisdom.

Do you think moral behavior is good or bad? Do you like moral corruption or moral nobility?

Is inner peace good or bad? Do you prefer fidgety or inner peace?

Is wisdom good or bad? Do you like wisdom or ignorance?

The Buddha taught us to cultivate these three things:

First, practice precepts-improve moral conduct;

Second, revision-dedicated to inner peace;

Third, cultivate wisdom-cultivate wisdom.

These three methods are a secondary relationship, that is, a gradual relationship. First of all, we should improve our moral quality; With virtue, we must strive to calm our hearts; Inner peace should further enhance wisdom.

Therefore, don't think that practice means sitting on a futon without eating fireworks. The so-called practice is nothing more than practicing discipline, stability and wisdom, and Xiu De, tranquility and wisdom.

Trouble is deep-rooted, and it is not easy to break it. This is a long process.

There are three levels of worry, from coarse to fine, and practice is also from low to high. Three stages of spiritual practice can eliminate three levels of troubles, namely:

1. Observe the precepts and get rid of offending troubles;

2. Remove troublesome troubles through revision;

3. Eliminate potential troubles by cultivating wisdom.

First, if you want to get rid of offending troubles, you must observe precepts and cultivate moral conduct. Moral behavior is very important. Although moral conduct can't prevent people's hearts, it can regulate a person's behavior: if something can't be done, don't do it; What you can do, you should do it.

Moral behavior is called discipline in Buddhism. Many people unilaterally understand "precept" as a negative prohibition, and think that with precept, there is no freedom, and this can't be done and that can't be done.

However, the "Jie" in Pali is S? Pull, meaning behavior, habit, quality, nature, nature, usually refers to moral norms, good character, good behavior, Buddhist code of conduct and so on. But from the original intention of "abstinence", it is to actively cultivate good behavior habits and cultivate good morality and self-cultivation.

As long as a person has good moral quality, he will not do anything that harms others and benefits himself, or even harms others and benefits himself. People with morality and discipline will not do anything that hurts others, but will be condemned by their conscience.

Out of respect for life, we should not kill. Everything that has life is afraid of death; I don't like being hurt and killed. Why do you want to violence other sentient beings and kill others? Just because I don't want to be hurt or killed, I shouldn't hurt or kill other beings. This is the most basic respect for life!

I don't want my own property to be stolen or robbed, so I shouldn't steal, rob or occupy other people's property. I hope to have a happy family, maintain family harmony and husband and wife harmony, and don't mess around with men and women outside, philandering and having an affair. I don't like being cheated by others. I hope what I say will be believed by others, so I should keep my word and match my words with my deeds. I shouldn't tell lies and deceive people.

In a word, a person must have virtue first if he wants to improve himself and improve himself. With virtue and abstinence, you will not do anything to harm others and society in words and deeds, nor will you become a slave to sexual troubles. Abide by precepts and cultivate moral character, and you can get rid of offending troubles.

Second, if you want to get rid of disturbing troubles and inner troubles, you must fix them. What does this mean? It must be inner peace. The Buddha once taught us many ways to make our hearts calm, called "karma", which is where the mind works, so that the mind can achieve inner peace by focusing on a single goal.

Why can you get inner peace by focusing on one goal?

For example, if a person has no job, he may be idle and even cause trouble everywhere. You help him find a job, let him settle down to work; As long as he has work to do, he won't be idle. So is our heart. Without a good guiding direction, you will follow your own preferences, pursue pleasure and drift. Let it focus on a specific goal and it will gradually calm down. This is the principle of cultivating concentration. Buddhism is engaged in spiritual work, teaching us how to guide this heart, make good use of it, and let it develop in a good direction.

Here, I want to teach you two ways to make our hearts focus on specific goals in order to cultivate peace.

The first method is called entering the heart, which is to cultivate concentration by focusing on breathing. When you get home, you can spend some time, half an hour, forty-five minutes or an hour. Don't watch TV, don't turn on the computer, turn off your cell phone and phone, and find a quiet place, such as your own room and study. Find a comfortable seat cushion, the seat cushion is about four fingers high, or a little higher, and the hips are raised a little, so as to keep the balance of the body's center of gravity and it is easy to sit for a long time. Then keep your upper body straight, don't bend over, bend over, and don't stretch too straight, naturally straight.

Close your eyes gently, then relax all over, leaving your body in a relaxed, natural, comfortable and meditative state. At this time, we should temporarily put aside the company's affairs, life troubles and family chores, recover our wandering hearts, don't look back on the past, don't plan the future, let go of everything that has nothing to do with meditation, and decide to return to the present and return to our own time and space at this moment. When the body and mind are in a natural, relaxed and comfortable state, build your mind on the area above the nose, person or lips and try to be aware of your breathing.

Don't follow the breath into the body, and don't follow the breath out of the body; Don't pay attention to the soft, slippery, light, flowing, hot, cold, pushing and other feelings of breathing, and don't "see" breathing with your eyes, just let your mind know the nose and people's breathing in and out.

Realizing that breathing is actually a very simple and simple thing. Why? Because we breathe all the time, all the time, but we always ignore it. To be aware of breathing, you don't have to be artificial or deliberate, just try to understand and care about the breathing that has been here.

This is a way to calm your mind by focusing on breathing. This method is called getting into your mind. As long as you can always learn to pay attention to your breathing, you will find that your emotions are easier to control and your heart is easier to calm down.

Then I will briefly talk about the way to spread love to everyone. What does it mean to spread love? Is to learn to bless others and wish them happiness.

When spreading love, close your eyes, bless yourself first, hope you are happy, hope you are happy, and feel really happy and really happy with your heart. If you feel that your happiness is a bit difficult, you can think back to what you have done in the past to make you happy, such as helping others and doing charity, and then feel the happiness at that time and keep it.

After doing this for about a few minutes, choose someone you respect and respect as the object of spreading love, such as your teacher, someone who is kind to you, etc. , but must be of the same sex, the opposite sex is not appropriate. Send your blessing, bless that good man with your heart, and feel the other person really happy with your heart! You can spread your love and keep it as long as possible.

After spreading goodwill to respectful people, you can continue to bless other respectful people, and then bless your family, your friends, your colleagues in the company, all people, including people you know, people you don't know, and even all sentient beings. This is love!

When spreading love, your heart must be happy, joyful, calm, soft and broad. She can effectively eliminate irritability, anxiety, sadness, resentment, dissatisfaction and other emotions. Always learn to spread love and bless others. When you have kindness, when kindness becomes your inner quality, you will find that not only your mood has changed, but also your personality, even the people around you and the world around you have changed!

Whether it is awareness breathing or spreading love, it is not difficult to do it. Everyone should try to do it. You can practice not only in a specific time period, but also in your spare time. For example, after returning to the company, if it is still early to go to work, you can sit in your seat, close your eyes, relax yourself first, and then realize your breathing. ...

There are many other seed companies, although the goals are different, but the methods are similar, so I won't list them here.

Third, to remove hidden troubles and eradicate inner troubles, we must cultivate wisdom and wisdom. Only through wisdom can trouble be eradicated.

The wisdom mentioned here does not mean that the brain turns quickly, has strong understanding ability and good memory; It doesn't mean that you can beat your opponent and climb to the top in shopping malls, officialdom and battlefield. These abilities can only be called talent or intelligence, not wisdom as Buddhism says. The wisdom that Buddhism refers to is the wisdom that can know the truth of life and gain insight into the essence of the world.

We need wisdom to understand the pair of body and mind and realize that our body and mind are nothing more than eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and mind. Eyes, ears, nose, tongue and body are called five senses, which constitute the body (color body) of this body. There are six meanings, namely, six senses: eye knowledge, ear knowledge, nose knowledge, tongue knowledge, body knowledge and consciousness. These six senses recognize six objects respectively: color, sound, smell, taste, touch and various phenomena (causes). Eyes can see color, ears can hear sound, nose can smell, tongue can taste taste, body can touch touch, and consciousness can think about various phenomena. We live in this world, nothing more than the interaction between our body and mind and these six objects.

When we see beautiful things, hear beautiful sounds, eat delicious food, etc. It is easy to become greedy and want to pursue these things. Note that when you come into contact with the object you don't like, your heart will repel and resist, and it is easy to get angry. Because you don't understand the nature of the external environment, this is called delusion. Greed and ignorance are unkind, that is, trouble.

We should use this method to understand how body and mind are formed. How do they work? Under what circumstances does kindness arise, and under what circumstances does unkindness arise? How to cultivate kindness and how to avoid unkindness?

After understanding the body and mind, we should further trace the causes of body and mind and life. Every cause has its consequences. Therefore, life must have a reason. Why is there life? Because there is trouble, greed and pursuit, they want this thing and that thing, so they will take action. These behaviors are morally called good karma or bad karma. When these good or bad karma matures, it will inevitably bring corresponding results. Our body and mind, what we encounter every day, are the results of our actions. In other words, fate is created by ourselves, and we are the undertakers of our own actions. At the same time, we must also be responsible for our actions.

After understanding the causes of body and mind, we should also observe their impermanence, bitterness and selflessness. All phenomena in the world, including body and mind, are not eternal, and everything changes in an instant, which is called impermanence. Everything is suffering from the persecution of birth and death, so it is "bitter". Because of impermanence and suffering, there can be no so-called "self", "soul", "entity" and "ontology", that is, the so-called "no self"

In this way, with impermanent, bitter and selfless wisdom, we can observe everything in the world, including our own body and mind, as well as the body and mind of others. Regardless of the past, present and future, everything is impermanent, bitter and selfless. Observing his wisdom so thoroughly, when his wisdom is mature, he can get rid of his troubles and all his sufferings.

Therefore, by observing the precepts, we can get rid of the first offence at the roughest level. Through modification, the second puzzle can be further eliminated. By cultivating wisdom, the third potential trouble can be completely eliminated. All troubles can be solved and eliminated by cultivating discipline, determination and wisdom.

The goal of learning Buddhism is to get rid of troubles, and the way to get rid of troubles is nothing more than abstinence from three things and learning wisdom. Abstinence from wisdom is the most basic and important practice method in Buddhism. Without it, there is no so-called practice.

If you want to get rid of troubles, you must also cultivate discipline, determination and wisdom. It won't be difficult to cultivate these three things. It depends on whether you do it or not and whether you can persevere. Of course, all of us here are family members, with families, jobs and social responsibilities. Naturally, this requirement cannot be as high as that of a monk. For monks, moral requirements must be clean and honest enough to be a teacher for the public; The requirement of calmness must prove Zen, and the requirement of wisdom must cultivate and observe wisdom. These are all professional requirements. Although you can't be professional at home, you should at least reach the amateur level!

This shows that Buddhism is the teaching of Buddhism, emphasizing wisdom, consciousness and practice. Don't think that Buddhism is a religion, and people are required to burn incense, bow down, fast and recite scriptures on the fifteenth day of the first month. The Buddha taught us to know the truth of body and mind, and to know our own troubles in order to get rid of them. The Buddha pointed out a clear way to get rid of troubles, which is divided into three stages: first, improve one's moral quality, second, devote oneself to inner peace, third, cultivate wisdom, get rid of troubles through wisdom and eradicate the root of pain. Without reason, there will be no result. Without worry, there will be no reincarnation of life and death, and there will be no more suffering. This is the Buddha's teaching!
