Is Jiang Taigong a Taoist?
Yes! Jiang Taigong is the god of Taoist folk belief. Jiang, Lu, Shang, Ziya, a native of Jizhou at the end of Shang Dynasty, was also called the ancestor of Qi State in Zhou Dynasty because his ancestors were sealed in Lu. In order to escape Shang Zhouwang's rebellion, Jiang Shang lived in seclusion in Liaodong for 30 years. Later, he met Zhou Wenwang on the bank of Weihe River in Zhou Dynasty. He was used by Zhou Wenwang, and became a consultant for the establishment of People's Republic of China (PRC) in the Western Zhou Dynasty. Later, it was sealed in the capital of Qi (now Zibo). In ancient times, there was the art of war, which was called the heritage of Jiang Shang. After the Tang Dynasty, Jiang Taigong began to be included in the national sacrificial ceremony. In the 19th year of Kaiyuan (73 1), it was ordered to build a Jiang Taigong Temple as a gift in Beijing and other states in the world. In the first year of Shangyuan (760), Jiang Shang was named "Wang Wucheng" by posthumous title. Since then, Jiang Taigong Temple has become a large-scale folk temple. As Jiang Taigong was a strategist when Zhou Wuwang attacked the Zhou Dynasty, and was honored as the head of the gods in The Romance of Gods, he had a far-reaching influence on people's thoughts and formed the most authoritative Taoist folk belief in gods.
