Appreciation of Yan Weishi

Wei Yan was a famous Jiangnan poet in Dali period, and he was a good friend with Liu Changqing. This poem is a gift to Liu Changqing. Liu Shi once wrote a poem, which was named: "The humble alley is happy with the sun, but the decline is facing the wine. Lazy from China, idle as white clouds. Fishing in the county is simple, and learning in the poor is easy. Seven miles in front of the door, Zi Ling will pass sooner or later. " ("Liu Suizhou Collection" Volume 1) After Liu Chang talked about being transferred to Hubei and Yue in Dali, his observation of Hubei and Yue made Wu Zhongru frame him for taking bribes. After examination, there was no evidence, but he was still demoted to Sima in Zhou Mu.

In the 11th or 2nd year of Dali, Liu Changqing came to the relegation center in Zhou Mu, and naturally thought of an old friend in eastern Zhejiang, so he wrote this poem to Wei Yan (Wei Yan was in his hometown at that time). The poem euphemistically tells his grievances and boredom, and expresses the hope that old friends will get together. Wei Yan's appreciation of poetry naturally needs to make his own answer to these.

"When Sue was in the county, she was near Baiyunsi", which clarified Liu's identity and also praised him. Su Dan, the legendary fairy. According to legend, the Yellow Emperor named officials after clouds, and Qiu Guan was regarded as white clouds. Six departments of Shangshu Province in Tang Dynasty were subordinate to Qiu Guan. Liu Changxiao once served as a foreign official in the Ministry of Punishment. The meaning of these two sentences is that Liu Changqing is not a mortal when he goes in and out of the Qing Dynasty. The implication is that Zuo Jun is only temporary.

"Medicine makes up the disease, and the punch line is sung from the window". These two sentences imagine Liu Chang's home life: decocting medicine, reciting poems, recuperating from illness and writing poems, each with his own interests. The phrase "medicine tonic" implies the phrase "Sudan". Liu Changqing is sick, probably keen on Taoist health. The sentence "window singing" should be the title, praising his well-written poems.

"The flowing pond is full of spring water, and the beautiful house is sunset", two sentences describe the beautiful scenery of Jiangnan water town in spring. It implies that Liu Chang talks about the environment around his new house: beautiful, quiet and pleasing to the eye.

The above two couplets are actually words to comfort friends.

"If I want to know your wishes, I will visit the teachers in the Ming Dynasty", which is a reply to my friend's invitation. I mean, I miss my friends very much. I can't wait to rent a boat to visit me tomorrow.

The whole poem is relatively dull. However, the "Liutang" couplets have been greatly appreciated by future generations for their vivid images of scenery. There is such a record in Ou Gong Shi Hua, which is quoted from Volume 6 of Shi Zong Hua Gui: "Yue:' The scenery is difficult to write, and the meaning is endless. Why should there be poetry? "Yu Sheng said:' When the author gets the mind, the viewer will understand the meaning, but it is almost difficult to mention Chen Yiyan. Although, you can also say a little. If Wei Yan said that "the flowing pond is full of spring water and the beautiful house is sunset", then the sky is tense and harmonious, isn't it the same now? "The man Wu Qiao also said," If you send your feelings to the landscape, such as Yan's' flowing pond is full of spring scenery, the flower dock is sunset', and the meaning of sadness and joy is now in nature, it will be perfect! "Only Liu Gongfu's poem raised a little objection that' the sunset is late, the spring water is not willow', which is not perfect. However, he was refuted by Xue Xue, who called it "this is a vulgar view". It can be seen that these two poems have a great influence on later generations to write landscapes.
