Create Maoshan Sect

Tao Hongjing is an important inheritor of Shangqing School. He traveled around and searched for Taoist scriptures. During his tenure as the Taoist priest of Shangqing, Mao Shan wrote a large number of Taoist works, especially "True Faith" with the nature of sectarian history, which made a systematic description of the teaching history of Shangqing Classic and made various deified descriptions of its origin and birth. Because Tao Hongjing mainly taught Shangqing Classic during his stay in Maoshan, he did a lot of work to promote Shangqing Classic.

In addition, he is very famous, and even there are many believers in the ruling and opposition parties, so since he started, Maoshan has actually become the center of the Shangqing school. In addition, after Tao Hongjing, most of the descendants of Maoshan in past dynasties were learned and famous Shangqing Taoist priests, so Maoshan has always maintained the central position of Shangqing School.

In this way, starting from Tao Hongjing, Maoshan actually represented the Shangqing School, so people called the Shangqing School after that as Maoshan School, and regarded Tao Hongjing as the founder of Maoshan School. Maoshan School has experienced the Sui, Tang and Song Dynasties since it was founded by Tao Hongjing, and its talents have come forth in large numbers, which has always occupied an important position among Taoist schools.
