The shape of this weather tower is like a "dolphin" that just jumped out of the blue sea. The design is conceived as a "pearl" rising from Ran Ran on the Gobi Desert, which also echoes Jiayuguan City on the vast Gobi Desert in the northwest. The meteorological tower has two floors underground and 19 floors above ground. Among them, the basement is a popular science exhibition hall, which popularizes disaster prevention and mitigation and meteorological popular science knowledge to visitors through high-tech means and interaction between visitors and exhibits.
At the top of the meteorological tower is meteorological observation equipment. The tower is equipped with international advanced Doppler weather radar and detection and analysis technology, which can accurately estimate the rainfall within 200 kilometers of Jiayuguan Fiona Fang, and the monitoring distance of large-scale heavy precipitation weather is more than 400 kilometers. It is the main means of real-time monitoring and early warning of severe weather such as gale, thunderstorm, hail and rainstorm. The "Pearl of the West" meteorological tower has been opened to local citizens and tourists.
