It is generally better for the elderly to sleep for a few hours.
In fact, people of different ages have different needs for sleep, especially influenced by lifestyle and health. According to the survey report completed by the National Sleep Foundation in the United States for more than two years, this paper puts forward some suggestions on sleep time:

Adults (26-64 years old): sleep for 7-9 hours;

Old people (over 65 years old): Sleep for 7-8 hours.

Of course, the above sleep time is not the standard time (please don't sit in the right position). After all, each individual's sleep habits and physique are different, and the sleep time will naturally be different.

According to the survey, 70% of the elderly in China have sleep disorders. The elderly wake up 3-4 times a night on average, and 44% of them have insomnia all night. Nearly half of men and women over 65 said they had at least one sleep problem.

With the growth of age, the physical function of the elderly gradually declines, the brain gradually ages, and melatonin secretion is less and less, which leads to different sleep problems such as difficulty in falling asleep, tossing and turning, easy to wake up, and sleepless at night.
