What fertilizer does eggplant need and how to fertilize eggplant?
Matters needing attention in eggplant fertilization:

First, re-apply base fertilizer. Eggplant is a fertilizer-loving and fertilizer-tolerant crop with a long growth period. In order to obtain high yield, sufficient base fertilizer must be applied before planting. The amount of base fertilizer accounts for about 1/3- 1/2 of the total fertilizer application. Generally, 5000-7000 kg of high-quality decomposed organic fertilizer (chicken manure, horse manure, cow manure, pig manure, etc.). ) application per mu, preferably 2/3, 1/3 with an appropriate amount of 25-50 kg of NPK compound fertilizer, and then concentrated application in planting ditches or holes.

Second, topdressing by stages. Eggplant has a long fruiting period and needs multiple topdressing. The amount of nutrients absorbed by eggplant increases rapidly after full flowering, so the key period of topdressing is from "staring at eggplant" to "four-door bucket" harvest. During this period, topdressing can be done once every 10- 15 days, and ammonium sulfate15-20kg or urea 7.5-10kg or decomposed human excrement and urine 500-600kg can be topdressing each time. Fertilization methods can be ditch application, hole application or water flushing application. If cultivated in hot summer or greenhouse, washing with water should be avoided to prevent volatilization of effective components, which will reduce fertilizer efficiency and aggravate fertilizer damage.

Third, spraying fertilizer outside the roots: eggplant leaves turn yellow due to lack of nitrogen, and magnesium deficiency is easy to turn green and yellow near the main vein, and deciduous leaves often appear, which affects the yield. In order to make up for the deficiency of root fertilization, urea, potassium dihydrogen phosphate and magnesium sulfate can be sprayed on the leaves according to the growth of eggplant from the fruiting period. Generally, it is sprayed once every 7- 10 day and continuously for 2-3 times.
