Is jogging suitable for patients with heart disease?
Patients with bad heart are not allowed to run, because running belongs to strenuous exercise. During strenuous exercise, the oxygen consumption of human tissues increases, so the oxygen demand also increases obviously. People with bad heart can't meet the blood supply of various organs when running, and patients will have symptoms such as dizziness, fatigue, chest tightness, shortness of breath, palpitation and chest pain. When patients with coronary heart disease run, the increase of cardiac oxygen consumption will induce angina pectoris and myocardial infarction. When patients with hypertension are running, the excitement of sympathetic nerve will lead to a sudden increase in blood pressure, which is prone to hypertensive emergencies, such as aortic dissection, hypertensive crisis and even hypertensive encephalopathy, which can be life-threatening. Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy increases heart rate during running, which may lead to further obstruction of left ventricular outflow tract, and patients may experience syncope and sudden death. Therefore, for patients with bad heart, low-intensity exercise can be chosen in daily activities to avoid adverse consequences, such as walking slowly, yoga and Tai Chi.
