Slow life in a small town-Columbus, Ohio
A while ago, OSU (Ohio State University), which has a good reputation as a sports school, became a hot topic in the circle of friends, reminding me of the two and a half years I spent in Columbus, Ohio. That is the city where I have lived the longest in America. Besides, my son was born in the hospital of OSU, so our family still left many footprints and memories here.

Columbus, translated from Chinese into Columbus, is a second-tier city, accounting for a slight minority. There are 54 places in the United States called Columbus, which is easily confused, further reducing the recognition of the city.

Gecun is not a tourist destination. People often ask me what's interesting there. My answer is that unless you come to the annual Arnold Sports Festival to show off your muscles (a sports exhibition and competition sponsored and funded by Arnold Schwarzenegger, one of the largest fitness competitions in the world), the others are really nothing special.

However, it is very convenient to go to interesting places from Gotham village-Chicago is a five-hour drive to the west; Drive two hours north to Cleveland to see James (then a knight), or three hours to Detroit to explore the entrepreneurial history of the three major auto giants; Three hours east to Pittsburgh, the steel city, and then to Niagara Falls, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and even new york. Six hours to the south, you can go to Great Smoky Mountain, which is the most visited national park in the United States.

Well, after talking a lot, I almost can't go back to Gecun, and my relatives and friends think that I just don't welcome them.

Generally speaking, if you want to feel the huge gap between the prosperity of the rust belt in the United States a hundred years ago and the decline and ruin now, this whole western film is still worth seeing, and the photos taken are full of film sense. And Gecun can be used as a stop on the journey.

When Kloc-0/7 arrived in Gecun, our family rented a new apartment near Dublin, which naturally became our first stop to explore Gecun. Here is the headquarters of Wendy's, a fast food brand, and the nearby Daqiao Park is a newly developed commercial and residential real estate project in recent years. There are many restaurants, gyms, shops and so on in this area. It is said that the North Market, a farmer's market with a history of 145, recently opened a branch here.

Crossing Scioto River from Bridge Park, passing through the newly-built footbridge to the ancient town of Dublin, there are several old streets where early Irish people lived. There are some antique shops and cafes on both sides of the old street, and there is a new library near the parking lot. Here, we can't miss the famous local ice cream shop-jeni Brilliant Ice Cream Shop. Every time our family goes, we order two flavors, lavender and salty caramel. Together with a limited flavor of the season, these three meatballs are enjoyed by the whole family. Of course, jeni Company has several branches all over the city. Even if you don't go to Dublin, you can search nearby.

If you get up early on weekends, it is a good choice to visit the farmers' market in Worthington. There are fresh and crisp almond croissants from baker Dan, and there are fresh oxtails and eggs for the younger brother who has just arrived from the livestock farm. I like to buy colorful cherry tomatoes at the stalls of vegetable farmers and fruit farmers. Of course, in the bright sunshine, you can't miss all kinds of flowers carefully placed by flower farmers.

Sunny noon is best for walking and having lunch in the north. There is a treasure shop in Lamian Noodles that I have to mention. Its&is&,that is, the English of the symbol "&".After eating their Lamian Noodles, I know that "&"has a sense of "integration"-the chef is not Japanese, but he has made a very authentic Lamian Noodles, adding a layer of innovation on the basis of authenticity. Since we opened the store, we have basically gone there once a week to gamble on the dignity of more than 200 bowls of Lamian Noodles. I bet this store will definitely surprise anyone. In addition to this ramen restaurant, the chef also has a small restaurant called Asterisk, which means "*" in English. Personally, I think afternoon tea is a footnote to a happy day. By the way, their daughter's name is Anna, which also begins with an A. Conversely, it can be seen that they take good care of the two restaurants as their own children.

As for the choice of dinner, you can try a restaurant called SOW Plated on the west side of the university. New western food+organic cold pressed mixed juice, rich and light. If you want to eat simply, Tianzhu Express next door to the Japanese supermarket is the best choice for simple meals. After eating, you can also visit Japanese dessert shops and boutiques here. John's craftsmanship is very good when he cuts here in China Barber Shop City. It's been more than a year since I moved out of Gecun, and I haven't found a better barber.

Shopping is the first stop to promote Easton, the largest commercial complex in the east of Gecun. There are outdoor street-facing brand stores and major shopping centers. Needless to say, just buy it at buy buy.

The zoo and botanical garden in Gecun are very suitable for children to move freely. Columbus Zoo is the largest zoo in the midwest, and thousands of Christmas lights will be arranged in winter-it's too cold in winter, and animals are locked up, so we have to find a way to sell tickets. Franklin Park Conservator and Botanical Gardens is an exquisite botanical garden where many local people will hold weddings. We like to go to the butterfly house inside, find a corner to sit down and wait for colorful butterflies to fly around.

If we expand the scope to the periphery of Gecun, there will be more places to go.

The most weighty five-star recommendation is the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, the hometown of the Wright brothers. This museum is the largest and oldest air force museum in the world. There are hundreds of planes on display in the museum, most of which are real. The whole museum is very, very big. If military fans want to study it carefully, they can't finish it in three to five days. It takes a day to visit the whole museum. The objects displayed in the museum range from the cloth of air force uniforms, Wright brothers' bicycles, spacesuits and space food, to the real B29 bomber that dropped the atomic bomb in Nagasaki (and the replica of the atomic bomb carried at that time), and then to General Chennault's Flying Tigers P40;. From the embryonic form of aircraft, to hot air balloons and airships, to modern fighter-bomber reconnaissance drones, and even spaceships and the command module of Apollo landing on the moon, the cars of several presidents, Air Force One and intercontinental missiles are all exciting. More importantly, however, this museum is operated by state funds and is open to the public free of charge.

As we all know, the headquarters of the three major American automobile factories are all in Detroit. In fact, many other automobile brands also have factories in the midwest, and Honda is one of them. Honda 1979 opened the first assembly plant in North America in Marysville, Ohio (half an hour's drive northwest of Gecun). Originally producing motorcycles, now it mainly produces Accord and Acura. There is a museum nearby, Honda Heritage Center, which displays Honda's products over the years. In addition to the museum, you can also make an appointment to visit Honda's automobile factory and watch the assembly of Honda cars in the automobile production line. It takes about two and a half hours to visit museums and factories, and all of them are free.

Students who like the outdoors can go to Dawes Botanical Garden in the east in spring, which used to be a private manor, with nearly 300,000 tourists every year after its opening. 1963 The Japanese Garden designed by Japanese architect Dr. Makoto Nakamura is the most worthwhile place to visit. It is a rare cherry blossom viewing place in the central and western regions. The pond in the middle of the garden is as flat as a mirror, which magnifies the whole garden in perception. You can meditate with your eyes closed in the meditation area, and the whole world comes and goes.

In summer, you can't go wrong walking in Huojinshan State Park. When you stop, you will see several ordinary small slopes. However, when you enter from the entrance and go all the way down, you will find that this park has a unique hole in the sky. It turns out that this is a canyon. Going deep, there are streams, waterfalls, caves and cliffs along the way. In the hottest days of summer, the canyon is very cool and comfortable.

In autumn, the forests in Moxigan Memorial State are colorful, full of mountains, red, yellow and green, with fallen leaves all over the ground. It is crisp and refreshing to walk.

When we first arrived in the United States, we didn't expect to stay in Columbus, a place we had never heard of, for two or three years, but after we arrived, we could gradually discover the beauty of the city. I miss walking around the company in the afternoon or the pleasant scenery on my way home from work more than being trapped at home because of the epidemic. Everything will return to normal, and winter will soon be over, won't it?
