Dr. Riel took two groups of 30-year-old young people as the test subjects, and trained them on an inclined treadmill and a desktop treadmill respectively. According to the principle of human sports science, he measured real-time data such as heart rate, oxygen uptake, energy consumption and muscle cell participation under different intensities, and made a comparative study of sports.
Summarizing the research results into three aspects, Dr. Riel found that the desire of ordinary bodybuilders to spend less time and energy and get the best exercise effect can be realized by using the upward treadmill.
First discovery
When the exerciser exercises on an inclined treadmill with an inclination angle of 12 degrees and a speed of 3 mph (4.82 km/h), the training effect can reach 6 mph on the platform treadmill. This is the first discovery of Dr. Riel's research project. This shows that bodybuilders can effectively increase their heart rate and achieve fat consumption without increasing their speed on the inclined treadmill.
The second discovery
Dr. Riel's second discovery is that when gymnasts exercise on an upward inclined treadmill with a slope of more than 15 degrees, the proportion of mobilizing muscle cells to participate in exercise will increase to 75%, while on a platform treadmill, this figure is only about 20%. This means that exercisers can complete dual exercises of cardiovascular system and muscle system on the same machine.
The third discovery
Fitness exercisers consume 360 kilocalories per hour when exercising on an upward inclined treadmill with a slope of 16 degrees and a speed of 2 miles per hour, which is three times that of a platform treadmill at the same time. Moreover, even if the exerciser walks on the inclined treadmill at a low speed, he can effectively mobilize the aerobic function system, give strong support to cardiovascular and muscle activity organizations, and accelerate body fat consumption.
Increase the slope and change the way of energy consumption
The human body has three energy supply systems, namely adenosine triphosphate system, glycogen metabolism system and aerobic metabolism system, which support our daily physical activities such as walking, running and jumping. Each energy supply system uses different chemicals as energy. Under different exercise intensity, speed and form, the state of kinetic energy and fitness effect are different.
When the body starts to exercise, the three systems will start at the same time. But your body will decide which energy supply system will participate in the work first according to the intensity and speed of exercise. Knowing the physiological and biochemical energy supply characteristics of your body is helpful to choose the most suitable exercise plan for you. When talking about the results of the research project, Dr. Riel said: "Most scholars agree that if you want to effectively mobilize the aerobic metabolism system and effectively consume fat, bodybuilders must make the exercise heart rate reach or exceed 75% of the maximum heart rate. However, the problem is that in order to achieve effective heart rate intensity, we have to increase the running speed. When we increase the running speed, the actual energy source we consume becomes pre-stored carbohydrates, not the fat consumed by the aerobic metabolic system. "
For most exercisers, this study can change the uncertainty of energy sources during exercise.
Dr. Riel said: "When the slope of the upward inclined treadmill is 12 degrees or higher, it can effectively train gluteus maximus, posterior thigh muscles and calf muscles. This means that the inclined treadmill can not only maintain the effective heart rate intensity and reduce fat as soon as possible at a slow speed, but also enable the exerciser to complete aerobic training and deep muscle stimulation on the same machine at the same time. This is an amazing training mode. "
Tilting the treadmill upward is very beneficial to those whose main training goal is to enhance the health of cardiovascular system and muscle mass and control their weight. "If exercisers are willing to follow the exercise time, frequency and intensity and treat their bodies like ascetics, then the inclined treadmill will have obvious benefits to their hearts, blood vessels, lung cells, even muscle fibers, mitochondria and the whole oxygen supply system." Dr. Riel said, "In addition, it also solves the contradiction between exercise intensity and energy source. As soon as you set foot on the running belt, you burn fat, not stored carbohydrates.
