Laibin is located in the middle of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, so it is called "the hinterland of central Guangxi". Laibin is a "4+2" city in the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and an important part of the southwest sea passage.
It enjoys the reputation of "Du Yao of the World", "Ornamental Stone City of China" and "Coal Capital of Guangxi". It was rated as the first batch of "National Public Cultural Service System Demonstration Zone" to create a city and "National Fitness Demonstration City" and other honorary titles.

The evolution of Laibin's organizational system after the founding of the People's Republic of China
1950, Xincheng County was changed to Yishan District.
1952, Qianjiang county was merged into Laibin county; Wuxuan county and Xiangxiang are merged into Shilong County (located in Shilong Town), and Laibin County, Shilong County and Xincheng County belong to Yishan District.
1958, Yishan District was renamed Liuzhou District, and the organization was moved from Qingyuan Town, Yishan County to Liuzhou City. Laibin County, Shilong County and Xincheng County belong to Liuzhou District.
1970, Liuzhou area was renamed Liuzhou area, and Laibin County, wuxuan county County, Xiangzhou County, Xincheng County and Jinxiu Yao Autonomous County belonged to Liuzhou area.
On June 29th 198 1, Heshan City was established, and Beisi Commune in Laibin County was placed under Heshan City and Liuzhou District.
On September 29th, 2002, Liuzhou District and Laibin County were abolished, and Laibin City and Xingbin District were established at the prefecture level. Laibin City governs Xingbin District, wuxuan county, Xiangzhou County, Xincheng County and Jinxiu Yao Autonomous County, and manages Heshan City at the county level.
