Many of us will hear the sound of "clicking" when doing shoulder movements. What is this?
The completion of any action of human body is a complicated process. It requires instructions from the brain, nerve conduction, muscle contraction and relaxation, tendon sliding, and relative movement of articular surfaces. ...
The reason why the shoulder joint clicks is that some parts will collide during these complicated movements. How to understand it?
We take the common joint space stenosis as an example.
What we usually call shoulder joint mostly refers to glenohumeral joint. It consists of the convex surface of humeral head and scapula.
The glenoid is composed of a concave surface with a certain gap in the middle, which is the joint space. This convex-concave combination cooperates with each other to form a relative movement and complete most of the movements of the shoulders. In general, they will not collide.
However, if pathological changes occur, such as rheumatoid arthritis, it is easy to narrow the joint space. After the joint space is narrowed, the movement of our shoulders may be restricted and there will be a clicking sound.
For example, under normal circumstances, our shoulder abduction and lifting can reach 180 degrees. Due to the existence of joint space, the convex surface of humeral head slides without touching the concave surface; However, after the joint space is narrowed, it may only be lifted to 90 degrees, and the convex surface of the humeral head will touch the concave surface, and the joint will get stuck, resulting in abnormal sound, and it will be painful to continue lifting.
Of course, this is only one example of narrowing joint space. Others, such as scapulohumeral periarthritis, calcification of shoulder ligament, bone spur, rickets and so on. It may cause a click on the shoulder.
So, does this mean that as long as you hear the click of your shoulder, it means that your shoulder is sick?
Of course not.
There should be a lot of low-headed people now. If you bury your head in your mobile phone and play computer for a long time, your neck will feel particularly sour. So when we suddenly look up, will we also hear a "crack"? Did you feel comfortable afterwards?
In the same way, when driving, because we need to hold the steering wheel, our shoulders always keep a posture of forward flexion, micro-pronation and micro-abduction. After driving for about 4 hours, are your shoulders sore? At this time, if you turn your arm, can you hear a click?
At that time, there was no scapulohumeral periarthritis, just because I kept a posture for a long time and my joints were stiff for a short time. Just move. However, it should be noted that if the joint is in a state of fatigue for a long time, such as 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year, pathological changes will occur at this time. This is also one of the important causes of cervical spondylosis and scapulohumeral periarthritis.
Finally, let's talk about it again. When you hear a "click" on your shoulder, how can you simply tell if you are sick?
1, hear "click" sound, pathological changes.
This abnormal sound is usually long-term, often accompanied by pain or discomfort, and the range of motion of the shoulder is often limited.
The easiest way is to move your shoulders in the same direction, and it is easy to see whether the range of motion has decreased.
2, hearing the "click" sound, the lesion is uncomfortable.
Abnormal sound is usually short-lived, only once or several times. Shoulders often swell before activities; After the activity, the shoulders often feel light pleasure, and the shoulders on both sides act the same.
