There are various forms of illustration, and different brushes and designers have completely different styles. It is precisely because of the variability of its style that we can create packaging works with strong visual appeal on the basis of analyzing the attributes and characteristics of the goods themselves and drawing on the creative style of illustrations, as shown in the following figure. Illustration can express a completely different feeling from photography and create dazzling forms. The combination of illustration and packaging design gives designers great creative freedom, and designers can boldly try various styles of design: exaggerated painting style can highlight the characteristics of packaging, increase the interest of packaging, and is suitable for the packaging of creative products, as shown in the following figure 2. 1; Black-and-white sketch lines reflect the simplicity and naturalness of packaging, giving people a quiet and cordial feeling, which is applied to the packaging of humanistic goods, as shown in Figure 2.2; Illustrations of small fresh wind and healing wind give people a pleasing and warm feeling, which are deeply loved by women and are mostly used for packaging cosmetics, paper towels and other commodities, as shown in Figure 2.3 below. Illustrations with ethnic flavor, influenced by regions and customs, are often used in the packaging of tea and other specialty products, as shown in the following figure.
Illustration itself has rich artistic modeling language, and many styles such as aestheticism, realism and retro can be integrated into the packaging design of clothing, cosmetics and food, which not only meets the different emotional needs of different consumers, but also obtains good design and communication effects. Illustration packaging design gives people reverie through beautiful modeling, and guides consumers' associative feelings to convey information. The application of illustration in packaging endows packaging with new decorative forms and visual communication concepts, brings brand-new packaging means and visual effects to packaging design, and adds artistic charm and cultural connotation.
Woodcut Illustrations In packaging design, woodcut illustrations are regarded as outstanding representatives of China traditional culture. Combining woodcut illustrations with product packaging design can make packaging design have stronger visual impact and deeper ideological connotation, create new packaging styles and show different packaging atmosphere. The following is the application of woodcut illustrations I compiled in packaging design, hoping to help everyone. The Importance of Packaging Design In the era of consumption, packaging has always been an important means to contact goods and consumers and enhance their affinity. Packaging and commodities have formed a complete interdependence. As an important means to realize commodity value and use value, packaging plays a very important role in the field of commodity sales and consumption. The original function of packaging is to protect goods to a certain extent, but with the improvement of people's living standards and aesthetic taste, in order to convey commodity information more accurately and attract consumers' attention, packaging began to diversify. Now packaging has developed into a comprehensive discipline [1]. Advantages of Woodcut Illustrations in Packaging Design Woodcut Illustrations originated in China with a long history and various forms. Illustrations in ancient printed books in China are representative of woodcut illustrations. As an excellent traditional culture in China, elegance and simplicity are important features of woodcut illustrations. Using woodcut illustrations in commodity packaging design can not only contrast the historical and cultural taste of commodities, but also carry forward the traditional culture of our nation. The knife method in woodcut illustrations is strong and powerful, and the rhythm of black and white makes the works full of great power and can show strong artistic effects. Through ingenious composition, the theme style is set off by different styles such as fullness, density or simplicity, which is also in line with the characteristics of commodity diversification [2]. The principle of design and application of woodcut illustrations (1) conveys information accurately. In packaging design, different designs should be made according to different consumers and markets to accurately convey commodity information. First of all, every commodity has its application crowd. For example, some goods are favored by the elderly, and some are from the heart of young people. So when designing these products, we should design them according to the different preferences of the elderly and young people. For example, when using the design elements of woodcut illustrations to design commodities, the contents of woodcut illustrations of commodities for the elderly can be auspicious elements rich in China traditional culture, such as "pine" and "crane". When designing products for young people, we should consider the enthusiasm, activity and passion of young people. We can choose some content with positive significance or rebellious spirit in the choice of woodcut illustrations to win the love of young people and enhance their desire to buy. Secondly, packaging is not only a measure to protect commodities, but the purpose of modern packaging is to truly and accurately convey the characteristics and quality of commodities to consumers through visual language. Therefore, the accuracy of packaging design is a key point of packaging, which requires designers to fully understand all kinds of information of goods when designing packaging, and design accurately according to these information, so as to clearly show the information of goods to consumers. (2) Unique Personality When two similar products with the same price and similar quality appear together, how will consumers choose? I think the answer must be that in the era of increasingly fierce competition, if we choose the one with better packaging and more eye-catching, we can be in a favorable position in the competition and win the initiative, and we must pay attention to all aspects of the goods. In the packaging design of goods, only the packaging with unique personality can firmly attract consumers. As a design element that has not been widely used in packaging, woodcut illustrations can make the increasingly convergent commodity packaging design present different styles, endow packaging with strong personality, leave a deep impression on consumers and strengthen consumers' desire to buy. However, it should be noted that the unique personality must conform to the aesthetic level of the public. Too avant-garde and non-mainstream tend to be self-defeating, but will not achieve good results [3]. (3) Pay attention to limitations and adaptability. China is the manufacturing center of the world, and many commodities are exported. Therefore, when designing packaging graphics, we should consider the customs and habits of different countries, regions and nationalities. For example, the design elements such as "crane" and "orchid" are often used in woodcut illustrations, but in France, cranes are indeed symbols of prostitutes, while Italians avoid using orchids. Therefore, designers must pay attention to this aspect when designing, and know the customs and habits of the place where the goods are sold in advance to avoid unnecessary losses. In addition, due to the rapidly changing environment of modern consumer market, designers should constantly revise the packaging design to meet the requirements of the times.
