The History and Origin of the Ancient Bronze Road
Jingtong ancient road is a place where ancestors climbed mountains and waded through mountains in Qing Dynasty.

The Jingtong Ancient Road is between Pingxi and Xizhi in Taipei County. If Panshiling, the highest point of Xiping Highway, is the boundary, the exit of the west straight section of the ancient road is on the left side of Ren 'ai Bridge on Dongshan Road, and the Pingxi section goes down from Panshiling Mountain to Jingtong Old Street from Erkeng Exit. The total length of Pingxi section is about 2.7 kilometers.

Pingxi was an important mining town in the Japanese occupation era. Although the Pingxi Railway has been opened, it mainly transports coal, and the Jingtong Ancient Road is still the main road leading to Sunseeker. In order to implement the garbo policy, the narrow road was widened to garbo road with a width of six feet, so as to facilitate horses to enter the mountainous area. It was not until the 1960s that the roads were opened one after another that the ancient roads slowly disappeared into the mountains.

Along the Jingtong ancient road in Pingxi section, the sky is covered with lush forests. The terrain is changeable and tortuous. There are mountains here, how green my valley is, rich in plant resources, dense virgin forest belts, flowers and plants all year round, birds singing all the time, and it smells like a tropical rain forest. All the mines I saw along the way are traces of the past coal mining years, reminiscent of ancient love. The stream is cold to the bottom, and the ecology is very rich. There is little man-made destruction and clear streams here, which is a good place to watch fireflies in late spring and early summer.

The Pingxi peaks were blocked, and the water returned to the foot in the Qing Dynasty (now called Xizhi). People climbed mountains and settled in a big mountain-Jingtongkeng. Residents travel between Pingxi and Xizhi. Carrying materials such as Jingtong, Dajing, potato lang, grain, tea, cigarettes, opium, etc. Carrying a pole and stepping on a mountain path has been more than 100 years ago, or even longer-Jingtong Ancient Road.

During the Japanese occupation period, in order to explore rich coalfields, businessmen invested heavily in mining and a large number of people moved in, so Pingxi became an important mining town. Although the Pingxi Railway has been opened, coal transportation is the main way, and the Jingtong Ancient Road is the main road leading to Sunseeker. In the 44th year of Meiji (19 1 1), Pingxi was attached to the Shuihuijiao Branch of Taipei Hall. In order to implement the Garbo policy, the narrow sidewalk was widened into a six-foot wide Garbo Road to facilitate horses to enter the mountains.

Daoyuan enters the mountain from Baochangkeng Creek and Dongshanxi (west straight), and is widened to four meters from Baochangkeng to Shijiezi in Showa 14 (1939), allowing cars to pass. The high-voltage transmission and distribution road from the west to Jingtong as seen from the ancient pedestrian road was completed in Showa 15 (1940).

In the 1960s, highways from Pingxi to Muka, Ruifang and Xizhi were opened one after another, with convenient transportation and deserted ancient roads. I had to wait for a visit from a reclusive climber; Cherish the pioneering spirit of ancestors, leave human and historical footprints, and let future generations think deeply. ...

Jingping Ancient Road enters the mountain from the mountain entrance of the East Valley of Xiping Highway, and passes through Shijiezi Mountain Area, Shipai, Zuobi Inner Area and Feishenzai to Jingtongkeng. The west straight section of the ancient road is about three kilometers, and the Pingxi section is four kilometers. The journey takes about three hours. In the straight section of the west, the fields are vertical and horizontal, and farmhouses and gardens are scattered in the mountains. The crown forest in Pingxi section is very challenging and full of tropical rainforest adventure. The route of the ancient road is clearly visible, and there are many independent homes and other branches of hiking trails along the way, such as Erkong Guishan, Jiangziliao Mountain, Shidi Ancient Road, Sankeng Mountain, Stalagmite Point and Potato Langjian.

The terrain of Jingtong ancient road is changeable, gentle, steep and circuitous, which tests the foot strength of climbers. Mountain after mountain, full of green is rich in plant resources, shaded by primitive forest belts, with thousands of flowers and plants in the four seasons, and birds are singing and flowers are fragrant. The source of Keelung River is all spring water, crystal clear and quite primitive and wild. Now there is a mine mouth, a miner's house in the past, full of mineral flavor, which makes people miss the past. It is the track of years; The ancient road can not only be used for jungle tourism, exploration and fitness, but also explore the vicissitudes of ordinary people's lives.
