Gengma Dai and Wa Autonomous County No.1 Middle School (also known as Gengma Jing Yun Ethnic Middle School) was founded in 1958. Gengma No.1 Middle School is the only complete secondary school in the county with the longest running history, the most complete teaching facilities and the strongest teachers. After the 1 988 "11.6" earthquake, Beijing donated 3.6 million yuan to rebuild Gengma1. In order to remember the kindness of the people in the capital, Gengma No.1 Middle School was renamed as "Jing Yun Ethnic Middle School in Gengma Wa Autonomous County".
