Problem description:

Under my arm. The doctor said it was lipoma, but he was still young and didn't need surgery. What should I do?

Analysis:

Lipoma is a common benign tumor on the body surface, which is composed of normal fat cells, accounting for about 80% of soft tissue benign tumors. There is no obvious special reason. It often occurs under the skin or in deep tissues such as internal organs. Lipoma is usually local, with a very thin connective tissue envelope, that is, fat cells. Adipocytes are separated by connective tissue and are usually lobulated.

Lipoma is single and multiple, which is common under the skin of limbs, chest and abdomen, showing multiple smaller round or oval nodules; There is also a larger lipoma, which is slightly harder than ordinary lipoma and has a slight feeling of soreness or mild pain, which is called painful lipoma. In addition, there is a kind of symmetrical lipoma, which is characterized by bilateral symmetry, and it occurs in the neck, shoulders, elbows and arms. A large neck can compress the trachea, which leads to dyspnea. Lipomas in elbows and arms have passive squeezing pain when writing and sitting. The diagnosis of lipoma is not difficult. But it should be differentiated from angiopathy, lymphangiopathy and neurofibroma.

The only effective treatment is surgical resection. For multiple patients (some patients can reach more than 100), only the one with great influence and pain can be selected for resection first. There is still no cure. In recent years, some people use liposuction to make a small incision in the skin and insert a straw to remove large lipomas or local lipomas without leaving obvious scars. Of course, this is also a local treatment.
