The National Aquatics Center, commonly known as "Water Cube" and now renamed as "ice cube", is located in the south of the central area of Beijing Olympic Park and is the main swimming pool built by Beijing for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. During the Olympic Games, water sports such as swimming, diving, synchronized swimming and water polo were held here. Now "Water Cube" and "Bird's Nest" have become new landmarks in Beijing. From August 2065438 to August 2008, it undertook the ice project of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, and the renovation plan of the venue has taken shape.
The Water Cube Stadium looks like an ice crystal cube with a simple and modern shape. The irregular blue thick air cushion made of more than 3000 kinds of ETFE (tetrafluoroethylene) materials covers the building surface. More than 10000 steel members in different positions of the Water Cube form a three-dimensional space steel frame structure. Inside the venue is a six-story building with a square plane. The facilities in the museum mainly include a competition hall, a warm-up pool, a multi-function hall and a large water park.
