Soft whip
Soft whip is a kind of martial arts soft instrument, which consists of a dart head, a grip and several iron joints in the middle, and the joints are connected by rings. There are seven whips, nine whips, thirteen whips and so on. According to textual research, "iron whip's many knots are a legacy of the Jin Dynasty". Soft whip is a fierce hidden weapons in ancient battlefields. When in use, the handle will be whipped out when you hold it, and you can hit and bind it.
In modern martial arts, the length of the soft whip is generally that the "dart handle" touches the forehead and the dart head touches the ground when the human body stands upright. The main uses are: winding, swinging, sweeping, hanging, throwing, dancing flowers, whipping and so on. You can drill with one hand, or you can whip with one hand. With other equipment, you can whip the knife, and the training routine is "nine-section whip into the gun"
Hard whip
Hard whip is a kind of whip, as opposed to "soft whip". A hard whip is a short soldier. According to Zi Jian's volume 193, in the third year of Emperor Taizong's Zhenguan reign (AD 629), "Bingzi" selected Yan Tuo Pijia Khan, sent his brother Tong Te Le to pay tribute, and gave him a treasure knife and a treasure whip. "This treasure whip refers to the hard whip. Many history books have recorded the use of hard whipping. For example, in the early days of Tang Jianzhong, "the princess held a short whip in the hall and drew a bullet with her palm, saying that the pill had fallen" (Taiping Guangji 194).
In the Northern Song Dynasty, Huyan Zan was good at waving iron whip to stop regretting, "praising him for riding with a whip and waving iron whip" (History of the Song Dynasty, volume 279). There are two types of hard whips: first, the "bamboo knot Strafe" is shaped like a bamboo knot, and the second and thirteenth "water mill Strafe".
Except for the handle, there are thirteen sections, about three feet long and about one inch and three minutes thick. It has thirteen square protrusions, the whip head is slightly thin and blunt, and the whip tail has solid wood or iron handle. Both the whip head and the whip tail can be held, and both ends can be used. The methods of beating hard whip include stirring, grasping, clicking, clubbing, cutting, coiling, sweeping, board, shed, poking, pricking, flattening, cutting, stabbing, shackling, cutting, lifting, spinning, pulling, covering, rescuing, searching and supporting.
