After 1993 retired, Cai coached the national team from 1993 to 2002, and trained Olympic champion Zhang and world champion Chen Xiexia. Cai is now the head coach and captain of Bayi weightlifting team. At present, many of Cai's disciples are preparing for the Beijing Olympic Games in the national team.

Cai, who once coached the weightlifting team, devoted his sincerity and love to the training of young athletes, and successively trained five world champions and several national champions.
