The establishment of the first UWC World Union College was called "the most exciting educational experiment since World War II" by The Times. World United College originated from the idea of German educator Dr. Kurt Hahn. However, the annual admission rate of UWC is 5% of all applicants.
Extended Information UWC provides pre-university courses (IBDP) to the whole world, with 17 colleges and cooperative relations with more than 150 countries around the world. It was founded by Kurt Hahn, a German educator, on 1962. Its purpose was to break the gap between the East and the West during the Cold War and recruit students from war-stricken countries. Its purpose is to make students from different backgrounds.
Headquartered in London, UK, UWC is presided over by Queen Noor of Jordan and Nelson Mandela (1995-2013). The two former presidents were Count mountbatten (1967-78) and Prince Charles (1978-95).
