Characteristics of Emei Wushu

Since ancient times, monks and Taoists in Emei, Qingcheng, Huayan and Chun Wu, famous Buddhist shrines in Sichuan, have gradually formed the famous Emei Sect in China after attending Zen Buddhism. Emei school has both the advantages of Buddhism and Taoism, which not only absorbs the dynamic skills of Taoism, but also has the basis of Buddhist meditation, and creates a set of training methods combining static and dynamic. This training method is combined with various boxing methods, equipment routines and Sanda techniques to form the Emei Wushu system.

At the same time, for thousands of years, Sichuan folk have also circulated unique martial arts, which have become a common practice and lasted for a long time.

In theory, the Emei school advocates both dynamic and static, and has twelve dynamic skills: "heaven, earth, nature, heart, dragon, crane, wind, cloud, big, small, quiet and mysterious". Among the static skills, six special skills are emphasized: "Tiger Step Skills, Heavy Beating Skills, Earth Collecting Skills, Bag Hanging Skills, Acupoint Skills and Nirvana Skills", of which 36 "Acupoint Skills" are the most powerful, which can be used as massage to cure diseases and martial arts to defeat the enemy.

According to Zhao Zikai, an old martial artist in Sichuan, Emei School, Shaolin School and Wutang School all emphasize "both form and spirit, both internal and external cultivation", that is, the combination of fitness and attack and defense, and the combination of internal and external, but the three schools have different styles and have their own strengths, which can be distinguished from internal and external, rigid and flexible, and long and short:

1. Inside and outside: Shaolin School is good at attacking, and is known as foreign boxing. The Wutang Sect is good at breathing and is known as the family boxing. Emei school advocates paying equal attention to both inside and outside.

2. Combine rigidity with softness: Shaolin is good at rigidity and Wudang is good at softness. Emei school believes that "if it is too rigid, it will fold, if it is too soft, it will push" and advocates "combining rigidity with softness, and combining rigidity with softness".

3. Length: Shaolin School uses long hands, Wutang School uses short hands, and Emei School advocates both length and length.

Emei Wushu makes good use of the power of five peaks and six elbows. The five peaks are: head, shoulder, elbow, hip and knee; Six elbow refers to: upper elbow, lower elbow, left elbow, right elbow, back elbow and inverted elbow. Offensive and defensive techniques are flexible. "Teng, move, flash, jump, float, sink, swallow and spit" are the main attack methods of Emei Sect. The Song of Emei Monks Performing Boxing written by Tang Shunzhi in Ming Dynasty vividly describes the characteristics of Emei boxing.

Emei martial arts includes standing attack, ground attack and flying attack. Therefore, its technology is comprehensive, including wide opening and closing movements, rigid and flexible movements suitable for medium and close range attack and defense, and body trembling and deformation that can squeeze shoulders. Emei martial arts techniques include fist, palm, finger and wrist (called sheep's hoof elbow), with fist, swing, thrust, wear, whip, grab, hook, hang, pick, plane, take, fan, scrape, touch, bounce, wipe and wrap, from point to line, from line to surface, from surface to circle. Emei's kicking method should be head and chest kicking, middle ribs and armpits kicking, and two strokes kicking (the calf is facing the bone). There are forward kicks, side kicks and backward kicks. Leg methods include bouncing, hitting, kicking, kicking, cutting, winding, kicking, chopping, swinging, lifting, hooking, stamping, dividing, buckling, sweeping and lifting. , and pay attention to the combination changes. The legs are hidden in the open legs, which are symmetrical left and right, and the high, medium and low are combined into one.

There are various ways to hide legs, hands, legs, hands and hands in Emei Wu collection. There are cutting, twisting, kicking, bouncing, filing, pressing, swinging and bumping in the grounding and flying legs.

The drill style of Emei Wushu Boxing Frame is that the martial arts moves are long, medium and short alternately, with both hands and feet, clumsy and smooth, standing, landing and flying, with great movement deformation (from small to large, from near to far, from far to near).

Emei Wushu boxing training, combining rigidity with softness, combining speed and speed, is as strong as a landslide, unstoppable, hard-hitting, as soft as water, combining rigidity with softness, and turning softness into rigidity. In the boxing frame, there are not only the combination of continuous moves, but also the sudden stop, sudden change, deformation and variant movements of single move and half potential, as well as the difficult and wonderful technical combination of going up (flying), going down (standing down) and standing posture.

The strength of Emei Wushu boxing frame embodies the characteristics of mutual transformation of strength, brittleness, rigidity and softness. The boxing frame system consists of bionic dragon, tiger, leopard, snake and crane. The basic boxing stand highlights a certain type of play and strength, while the middle and advanced boxing stands are a combination of various strengths. There is also a boxing frame. Except for the Eight Methods and the plough, all other boxing frames are three-directional, one is a standing boxing frame, the other is a ground boxing frame, and the third is a flying boxing frame and a comprehensive boxing frame. Moreover, in these boxing frames, six joints are emphasized, namely, wrist joint, elbow joint, shoulder joint, hip joint, knee joint and ankle joint, so that the strength is smooth and the change is light.

In order to adapt to the sudden change of direction in Wushu, there are sudden change of direction, homeopathy, backward insertion, forward insertion and their conversion actions in the boxing frame. And jumping and tumbling caused by landing and flying.

Emei martial arts can be divided into two types: overt fighting and covert fighting. Combination of light and shade, hand, foot, step and body move together. In boxing training, the combination of rigidity and flexibility is reflected in the degree of severity, alternating speed and rhythm.
