Extended data

1982- 1986, the former state sports commission conducted a round of large-scale boxing excavation and identified 129 kinds of boxing. Among them, Taiji Zhuan identified five schools: Chen, Yang, Wu, Wu and Sun. Although there are many kinds of martial arts in China, they are not complicated and disorderly. Generally speaking, they can be divided into internal and external boxing and northern and southern boxing.

After the Qing Dynasty, the folk martial arts schools represented by Taiji, Xingyiquan (Mind Method, Liuhe and Italian Boxing), Bagua Palm and Tongbei Boxing (both internal and external) were called Neijia Boxing, and other boxing types were collectively called Waijia Boxing.

Waijiaquan is divided into north and south factions. The northern school is represented by Changquan, such as Liuhe, TongARM, Taizu and Dijian. The mainstream of the Southern School is in Fujian and Guangdong provinces. Fujian has dragon, tiger, leopard, snake, crane and Wuzu boxing, while Guangdong has Liu, Hong, Cai, Li, Mo and Wing Chun boxing.

In addition, the martial arts schools circulating in the south of the Yangtze River (such as Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hunan and Sichuan) also belong to Nanpai (also known as Nanquan).
