Zhai Jacob (UK) 1903- 1924 was appointed President of Wenhua University. He is committed to expanding the scale of the school and making Wenhua University develop well. The first boy scout in China was born here. In memory of Jackson, the first president of Wenhua University, Zhai Jackson Fitness Center was built by Meng (USA), the successor president. This building is a combination of Chinese and western architectural styles, and its structural layout is unique in the province. It is one of the three earliest existing gymnasiums in Wuhan.

Built in 192 1, it is a mixed two-story building with brick and wood structure, with Chinese roof and western roof. The building was originally founded by the Episcopal Church of Christ in the United States. It was called Wenhua College from 187 1- 1903 and registered as 1903 in the United States.

A Chinese glazed tile building next to the playground attracted our attention. This is a rare sight in a campus full of western characteristics. . That's the indoor gymnasium of Old Huada, also called Jackson Memorial Gymnasium. This two-story building not only provided a rare indoor sports venue for the students of that year, but also gave lectures here by Dewey and other famous scholars at home and abroad, according to Professor Zhang's memory.
