Development history of Taekwondo;
Taekwondo originated in the Korean peninsula. As early as the Three Kingdoms period in Korea, traditional martial arts such as Taekwondo, Fighting and Dao Lang were circulated among the people. During the Japanese occupation of the Korean peninsula, traditional culture was basically suppressed, and a large number of students studying in Japan received systematic karate training in Songtao. After returning to China, they set up Taoist temples to popularize karate.
After the independence of the Korean peninsula, a large number of karate halls and flower lang Dao halls have sprung up. Therefore, the early martial arts combined karate with traditional martial arts such as Hualangdao and created the first martial arts in the Tang Dynasty.
The word Taekwondo was founded and named by Cui Hongxi in April 1955. General Cui Hongxi191811.9 was born in North Hamgyong Province, North Korea. Influenced by China culture since childhood, he practiced traditional martial arts on the Korean peninsula and then went to Japan to study karate. After the independence of the Korean peninsula, General Cui Hongxi returned to China to organize a corps and became one of the founders of the Korean army. The Korean army has also become the basis for promoting Taekwondo.
1966 On March 22nd, the International Taekwondo Federation (ITF) was established, becoming the first international Taekwondo organization in history, with General Cui Hongxi as its chairman. In 1970s, due to the difference of ideas between General Cui Hongxi and then South Korean President park chung-hee, General Cui Hongxi went to Canada for development on 1972, and now he is headquartered in Vienna, Austria.
1973 In May, South Korea established the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF), with President Un-yong Kim as its chairman. Since then, taekwondo organizations have begun to split.
The development of Taekwondo is not smooth sailing. Cui Hongxi and the majority of Taekwondo practitioners have gone through many hardships and finally popularized and passed on Taekwondo as a martial art. Under the thought of "five permanents" of Confucianism in China, they summed up the spirit of Taekwondo, which is "courtesy, sincerity, forbearance, self-denial, perseverance and unyielding", as a code of conduct that Taekwondo practitioners must abide by.
