Tongling City, alias Tongdu, belongs to Anhui Province. Tongling is a prefecture-level city. A prefecture-level city, one of chinese administrative division, is the second-level local administrative region and territorial administrative region of China, so it is called "prefecture-level city" because its administrative system level is the same as that of the region. Tongling is famous for its copper and prospers because of it. It is known as "the ancient copper capital of China and the contemporary copper base".

Tongling geotectonics is located in the lower Yangtze depression of Yangtze paraplatform, or in the east wing of Huaiyinshan structural forearc. The exposed strata in the territory are from Upper Ordovician to Quaternary, with developed folds and faults, strong magmatic activity and metamorphic rocks scattered around intrusive rocks.
