Where is Hua Yao Middle School?
Hua Yao Middle School is located on the east side of the middle section of Nanjing Road in Heping District, with an area of 35,000 square meters and a building area of 2 1 1,000 square meters. The campus is triangular, surrounded by Nanjing Road, Yingkou Road and Hua Yao Road (formerly known as Gong Xue Road). Founded in 1927, Mr. Zhuang Lefeng, then the director of China Taxation Society of Tianjin British Concession, proposed to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the British Concession to establish a Chinese school, and raised 34,200 silver to run the school from China celebrities living in the Concession.

The school was originally located in Gordon Road (now Hubei Road) and was named "Tianjin Public School". 1928, due to the increasing number of students, Zhuang Lefeng proposed to the British Concession Ministry of Industry to expand the land, found a 53-mu depression on the banks of the Qiangzi River as the school site, and built a well-equipped school combining Chinese and Western culture. Including primary schools, male middle schools, female middle schools, gymnasiums, libraries, etc. Instruments such as physics, chemistry and biology are all purchased from abroad. 1935, Zhao Tianlin, former president of Beiyang University, became the president of Tianjin Public School, and was renamed Hua Yao School, which means "Glory to China". 1952 was renamed Tianjin No.16 Middle School. 1988 changed its name today.

Hua Yao Middle School has trained a large number of outstanding talents for the country and contributed to the development of education in China for more than 70 years. Among them, 14 became academicians of China Academy of Sciences and China Academy of Engineering. Academician Yu Min, an expert in rocket system control, Liang, the first Chinese female mayor in American history, Nie Bichu, former vice minister of foreign affairs and former mayor of Tianjin, and Hou, president of Nankai University, all came from this school. Hua Yao Middle School has become a model middle school with perfect modern teaching facilities, abundant teachers and distinctive school-running characteristics. In 2002, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Hua Yao Middle School, Li Ruihuan, Chairman of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, wrote an inscription for the celebration of Hua Yao Middle School: "Facing the Times and Glorifying China"; Qian Weichang, Vice Chairman of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, wrote an inscription: "Diligent, frugal and honest, showing us China".

The northeast side of Hua Yao Middle School is adjacent to Hua Yao Lane opposite Hua Yao Road. Hua Yao Road starts from Yingkou Road in the northwest and ends at Nanjing Road in the southeast, with a total length of 78 meters. Yaohuali is located in the southwest of the north section of Shanxi Road, starting from Shanxi Road in the east and reaching Hua Yao Road in the southwest, with a total length of146m. It is generally believed that the names of Hua Yao Road and Hua Yao Lane both come from Hua Yao Middle School. Actually, it's not. The one from Hua Yao Lane to wicker is 1902, which is 32 years earlier than the name of Hua Yao Middle School. Hua Yao Road was built in 192 1, and later named Gongxue Road, which is indeed a derivative of Gong Xue. 1943 After Japan occupied Tianjin, Gongxue Road was renamed No.22 Road in Xingya District 2. 1946, China government took it back and named it Hua Yao Road after Yaohuali. In recent years, Yaohuali, a century-old lane, has been demolished.
