C "insufficient balance"? Lose 20GB in these ways.
When moving large files, you can also slim down the large files that come with the system, turn off the hibernation function, transfer virtual memory files, and clear the system restore. Through these methods, drive C is 20GB thinner.

In today's per capita capacity 100GB, system disks seem less common, but there are also many "local tyrants" like Bian Xiao who like mindless next steps. The computer suddenly prompts "insufficient disk in C space, decompression failed". In order not to continue to affect the game learning, Bian Xiao decided to clean up this poor C disk.

0 1, moving large files

Most of the online tutorials use garbage cleaning software, and the C disk is cleaned by the method of fixed-point folder cleaning. Often, after doing a tiger operation according to the tutorial, the C disk space is not released much, and the system may crash first. In addition, most of Bian Xiao's C drives are games and software. In fact, the benefits of cleaning up cache files are very small. Usually, the "storage awareness" function of Win 10 will automatically clean up the garbage.

"Man-machine" crash caused by deleting system folders;

The most effective way is to find those typical large folders or files and move them according to the situation. In order to find out the real occupation of drive C, Bian Xiao recommends two visual file analysis softwares: SpaceSniffer and wiztree.

SpaceSniffer is an old-fashioned disk analysis and cleaning software, which can help us to view the disk occupation of different files in the form of graphic tables. Wiztree has the same basic function as SpaceSniffer, but it uses a technology similar to everything. Even on the mechanical hard disk, it can be sorted by seconds. You can choose two softwares according to your own preferences.

Bian Xiao usually spends more time using SpaceSniffer because its interface is more intuitive. As can be seen from the C disk analysis table of this computer, most of the files are games downloaded from Steam and Origin platforms, and there are also video files left by previous editing. Only these four folders add up to more than 300GB, so Bian Xiao decided to get rid of these "hard bones" first.

Video files are easy to solve, just pack the folder and transfer it to the mechanical D disk, and the game files can't be cut. Moreover, some competitive multiplayer games require loading speed, which is obviously not suitable for mechanical D disk. After weighing the game experience and disk space, Bian Xiao chose to move Wizards 3 and Tactical Team on the Steam platform to the D drive.

The method of moving the game is simple. Select the game to be transferred in the Steam library, right-click the properties, and find the mobile installation folder in the local files tab.

It should be noted here that to transfer the installation folder on Steam, you need to create a new Steam library in the settings in advance to successfully transfer the game.

02. The large files that come with the system can also be slimmed down.

After some operations, the computer C disk space has increased to more than 200 GB, and you can play happily again. However, this method may not be helpful to those friends who have good computer habits and don't jam files. If you want to further release the space of drive C, you must start with the system file.

In the analysis diagram of SpaceSniffer just now, we can see a 6GB oversize file hiberfil.sys and a page file. These two files are hibernation files and virtual memory files. If we can compress them, we can save a lot of space.

03. Turn off the hibernation function.

After the computer sleeps, the system will generate a memory image file hiberfil.sys, so as to start the program quickly after waking up the computer. By default, the system with hibernation function will not delete this file, but keep it on the hard disk, which will occupy some disk space in vain. The method of deleting hibernation files is simple. Run the cmd command prompt as an administrator to open a command line window, then enter: powercfg-h off, and press Enter to run.

If you don't want to turn off the hibernation function, you can also manually adjust the file size, and the maximum weight loss can reach 60%. Running cmd as an administrator and typing: powercfg hibernate size XX(XX stands for percentage value, and the range is an integer between 40 and 100) can also greatly reduce the space occupation of hibernation files, at the expense of increasing the time to wake up from sleep.

04. Transfer virtual memory files.

Small partners who need to run large programs suggest keeping the virtual memory function. Bian Xiao has encountered that when the actual memory is enough, closing the virtual memory will cause the game to flash back, but we can change the location of the paging file by setting it to prevent it from being on the C drive. Here's how to do it.

Right-click this computer on the desktop and select Properties from the pop-up menu.

Bring up the system interface, click Advanced System Settings, and switch to the Advanced tab.

In the advanced interface, click "Settings" in the lower right corner of performance to bring up the performance option interface and switch to the "Advanced" option interface.

Finally, click "Change" to enter the setting page of virtual memory.

After calling up the virtual memory interface, first remove the check box in front of "Automatically manage the paging file size of all drives", then select drive C, check "No paging file" and click "Settings".

A prompt should pop up at this time. Click Continue.

Then select another hard disk partition. The Bian Xiao here is drive D. You can select "System Management Size" or manually define the virtual memory size, and then click "Set". Finally, don't forget to click OK to restart.

05, clear system restore

After setting the hibernation function and virtual memory, 10GB is almost released. If the C disk space shortage syndrome still does not improve, there is another way-clearing the system to recover. The system restore function will generate a restore point file in the system volume information folder. With the increase of system time, more and more restore points will be generated. Over time, the file size can reach 4G or even larger.

Turning off this function is also in the advanced system settings of system properties. Switch to the "System Protection" tab and select drive C to enter the configuration page.

Click "Disable system protection" in the recovery settings to "delete" all restore points of this drive, and drive C has an extra 10GB.

In fact, a few GB SSD system disk will not affect the normal operation of the computer, but there will be a large number of temporary files in the system operation. If drive C is too full, many programs will not run normally, so the space on drive C is still very valuable.

According to the above method, it should be no problem to release more than 10GB of space at one time with the garbage cleaning plug-in of the three parties. In addition to friends who have the ability to spend money, I suggest you form good habits when using computers every day. You can choose the software you install, and don't be clever.
