First, the preparation materials:
500g of clean roses (about 50 can be bought in a flower shop), a 500ml round-bottomed flask, a set of condenser, a flask of 100ml, several connecting fittings (these can be easily bought in chemical shops, and the total equipment investment is about 100 yuan), and an induction cooker.
Second, the production steps:
1, put the clean rose petals into the flask, then add mineral water, which is less than half of the flask, and then put it on the induction cooker.
2. Connect the condensing device with the flask, connect the hose of the water inlet and the water outlet, and connect the flask to collect the volatile rose liquid.
3. Use electric heating to heat the 500ml flask, and keep it on medium heat after the water is boiled. During this period, the color of rose petals will gradually fade, and oily liquid will drop out at the end of condenser (because essential oil is insoluble in water).
4. After waiting for a long time, the standard of ending is that there is no oily liquid dripping out of the condenser outlet, but all distilled water drops out.
5. After the distillation, a large amount of liquid should be collected in the collecting bottle, and then 5ml of 0.1g/ml sodium chloride solution should be added to accelerate the stratification and reduce the solubility of essential oil in water.
6. After standing for one night, the essential oil has been separated from the distilled water. The upper layer of essential oil needs to be extracted with a needle, because the amount is too small to be extracted easily, while the lower layer is the so-called rose pure dew, which is also commonly known as rose water. Separate the petals, put all the petals into a distillation flask, and add 1/2 water and part of sodium chloride, which is beneficial to reduce the solubility of rose essential oil in water and facilitate evaporation. Connect the instrument, pour a basin of wastewater from the bottom of the condenser tube by siphon principle, and there is another basin below, saving water resources.
Then distillation began, which was a long wait. You can see that the rose petals fade after heating, and the water finally boils and begins to collect distillate.
The final product, near 100ml colorless transparent liquid, has a strong rose fragrance, which can be smelled from the bottle mouth at a distance. It is almost tasteless to smell the roses before extracting them. It is very difficult for five flowers to produce such a little essential oil, so we must make good use of it.
