"Eating your own fresh fruits and vegetables during the epidemic has a sense of happiness and satisfaction."

"This salad really relieves anxiety."

"I hope that the technology we are studying can really land, serve the society and serve everyone."

In late May, a love salad became a creative warm-hearted material on campus.

This is a green "technical vegetable" with zero carbon and zero pesticide residue, which was developed by Chen from the School of Integrated Circuits and Electronics of Beijing Institute of Technology under the guidance of many teachers from the Electrical and Electronic Teaching Experimental Center and the Institute of Signal and Image Processing, and under the leadership of the "0" carbon -AI Empowered Urban Farm team in the AI laboratory. During the prevention and control of epidemic situation on campus, teachers and students were given a special "Beijing Institute of Technology Taste".

Using green energy skillfully to realize "zero carbon" and zero pesticide residue

It is understood that the R&D project of the seeder actively responds to the national task of "carbon neutrality of peak carbon dioxide emissions in 2030 and 2060", and is equipped with storage batteries to ensure stable power supply on cloudy days, making the whole process more environmentally friendly and energy-saving, and achieving "zero" carbon energy supply for environmental protection.

"Because there is no experimental experience related to vegetable cultivation in the past, we have mastered the nutrient solution ratio of different vegetables through cooperation and exchange with the instructor who specializes in vegetable nutrient solution in the School of Materials." Chen explained that in the whole process of using seeder to cultivate vegetables, there is no need to use pesticides at all, and using self-developed safe configuration nutrient solution can meet the nutritional needs of plants at different growth stages to the greatest extent, provide plants with a stable, reliable, pollution-free and pesticide-free hydroponic environment, and ensure that crops are healthy, green and zero pesticide residues.

AI intelligent identification system, which can be controlled remotely.

On the other hand, it can also identify pests and diseases, find bug eyes and diseased spots on vegetable leaves in time, and connect the mobile phone APP through the control system to generate alarm tips to monitor and master the growth dynamics of vegetables anytime and anywhere.

"Before the actual operation, we also read a lot of materials to collect pictures and data, because artificial intelligence needs constant training. At that time, we spent a lot of energy deploying the model on the seeder system, and we must constantly optimize the model. " The successful deployment mentioned by Chen is only the first step. If the actual test results are not up to expectations, we need to go back to the computer to continuously optimize and adjust, and then test on the seeder system. This tedious and complicated debugging work took a month, during which he and his team members often left the laboratory at two or three in the morning. "We hope to keep improving and do our best." He said.

Focus on the city and build an urban farm

"At present, the supply of vegetables in China is concentrated and divergent. The place of origin is first transported to wholesale markets all over the country, then distributed to wholesale markets all over the country, then entered the supermarket, and finally served on our table. " After considering the premium and loss in the transportation process, Chen made a plan for the next trial production of the seeder. He said that after the product is further improved, it can be extended to enterprises and institutions in the city to purchase and supply collective vegetable machines, and it can also cooperate with schools to join practical labor classes for primary and secondary school students, thus playing an entertaining role.

According to Chen, people often grow vegetables at home during the epidemic. Considering the problem of available space in the family, it is planned to customize the miniaturized planter to meet the daily supply of the family and establish a spontaneous vegetable exchange ecology among users.

"Before, I thought my research was theoretical. The research and development of this intelligent seeder can be regarded as the first time I put scientific and technological innovation into practice and really made something that can improve people's lives. " Chen said to:
