Ningbo, referred to as Ningbo for short, is a sub-provincial city in Zhejiang Province, China, the second largest city in Zhejiang Province with the right to formulate local laws and regulations, and a national historical and cultural city approved by the Ministry of People and Culture of China. It is one of the three major economic centers in Zhejiang. Ningbo Port is the largest port in China, and its container throughput jumped to the third place for the first time in 20 10. The city has a total area of 98 16 square kilometers and a population of 7605700 (20 10). It is located in the east of Zhejiang, in the south wing of the Yangtze River Delta, with Hangzhou Bay in the north, Shaoxing in the west, Taizhou in the south and Zhoushan across the sea in the northeast. In the documents of the Central Committee and Zhejiang Province, Ningbo is defined as the economic center of the south wing of the Yangtze River Delta and the economic center of Zhejiang Province respectively.
